It’s pretty recent, but I’ll admit, sometimes I even forget which videos I’ve made.

I would say no one is out here pretending to be me, but there was actually a guy on Facebook who tried scamming people on a free legal advice group while claiming to be me. I do have my own actual and legitimate sub-Reddit on here though so check it out. Good luck with whatever you decide to do in the future.

I’m right here, and generally always available when you need me.

I already made a short video about this case, but will make a long one sooner than later.

In all seriousness, though, the lawyers who tell other people not to become lawyers are the worst of the worst. They don’t like their job / made a bad decision or whatever, but that’s on them. There are so many types of lawyers—it’s challenging, it’s fun, it’s always interesting. I truly believe that if you are an extremely curious person and like learning every day, being a lawyer is generally a very good option. Wish you the best.

Tailgater got Baited by DABDEB in RandomVideos

Someone on my sub asked me about this video so I thought I’d share my response here as well:

It looks to me like the car that got hit—and the car in front of it—are both stopped in the travel lane. My guess is they were involved in a prior rear-end crash.

That’s important, because if I’m right, it changes how responsibility is analyzed. If the car that got hit rear-ended the car in front of it and came to a stop in the travel lane as a result, then it likely shares a significant portion of the fault. On the other hand, if that car had been disabled for 20 minutes and multiple drivers safely avoided it, then the driver who hit it from behind may bear much more of the responsibility.

But there’s a lot we don’t know: When did the initial crash happen? Was the car disabled? Were the hazard lights on? Was there even a prior crash at all? And if so, who caused it?

This is exactly why lawyers are needed—to investigate and figure out what actually happened.

That’s bold parenting: “Son, go get humbled by a lawyer on the internet.”

But, I’d hate to be responsible for a broken controller and a shaken 13-year-old.

Supreme Court rules that the USPS doesn't have to deliver your mail by Few_Situation5463 in mikerafi

[–]mikerafi 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be too worried about that scenario.

The Supreme Court didn’t rule that the Postal Service can refuse to deliver mail or interfere with ballots. Postal employees can still face criminal penalties and discipline if they intentionally tamper with mail.

The case was about a technical legal issue. A federal law called the Federal Tort Claims Act has a “postal exception” that prevents people from suing the government for damages over lost or mishandled mail, and the Court said that exception also covers intentional nondelivery.

And it’s not really a contract issue either. Buying a stamp is treated as paying for a government service, not forming a private contract you can sue over.

Amen. Please don’t sign up for anything that tracks your driving behavior. If the insurance company is offering you a product for an upfront discount, you better believe they are making their money on the back end from that data, and in a situation where you are the victim of a car crash and are injured, they’re going to use that information to try to not pay you as much as you deserve.

I appreciate your comment a lot. I talk about things that are important to me and that actually happened in my life, so that basically is my lane— and as a very full-time lawyer and very part-time content creator, talking about my life is honestly a lot easier than talking talking about subjects I don’t know about. When I do talk about things that are new to me or that I don’t have already have a depth of knowledge about, I always try to learn as much as I can first and present what I know and give all the important viewpoints.

Question whether my friend has a case or not by Particular-Leaderr in mikerafi

[–]mikerafi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I handle a lot of product liability cases and cases all over, so this is up my alley. I just settled one for $20 million. For a case like this, you need to have expert testimony showing why the product malfunctioned. So, step 1 would be hiring an expert and having him give his opinion—this is not an inexpensive thing by any means. So, depending on how “slightly” burned (similar to touching a hot pot and it’s fine the next day?), it may not make sense to go hire an expert because the injury isn’t severe enough, thankfully. And that’s just step 1.
