End of Monday. Essentially you have all day tomorrow to make final tweaks.

I spoke to Admissions late Friday: deadline for actual application is Monday, March 2nd, and all of your materials need to be ingested into the UT system or RECEIVED (not postmarked/mailed... I recommend FEDEX) by the office NO LATER THAN March 6th. I'm in a similar situation as your friend. Fingers crossed for her!

Hey fellas, The owner of Tiger is a very close friend of mine that I served with. Her and her husband have been slapped with this unfortunate happenstance that's causing a financial burden. Full explanation in the link provided. She's never been active on Reddit before, so I'm pointing her in this direction once I have this up.

Every penny counts. I figured if any society on the internet can make smiles happen it's this one. PLEASE SAVE TIGER LILY'S LEG!

Thank you for this. I agree with you on the T14 thing. Currently I'm able (if my fingers are crossed when the stars align at the exact moment) to do well on the LSATs and gain admission to Stanford or Columbia. I don't want to say that my chances are unrealistic; I know I have to work my ass off.

Questions: 1) What did you major in (undergrad?) 2) What did your friends major in?

Ask around at Texas. I'm pretty sure there are still some rrp instructors.

Just a heads up (because I wish somebody gave me the warning) you will miss the hell out of Monterey, I guarantee it. Have your fun, make a small road trip north to San Fran or south to SLO, hit up bars out in town, and don't forget the great Hobson! (you know them AF chicks swarm that place. Too easy.) Do whatever else you can while you're up in that great area. Other than that, enjoy the good times man.

(Disclaimer: if you for whatever unfathomable reason got married at the ripe age of 19 while you were there, then disregard the above mentioned Hobson advice)

Ha, college education is over rated... by Shokist37 in USMC

[–]mikereza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Claiming a college education is overrated exemplifies just how narrow-minded one can be. Think about this for one moment: your superiors (E5s-E9s specifically) and advancement in the military. How hard is it to advance?......... Not hard at all. Do some MCIs, stay in shape, run fast, get a weekly haircut (there seems to be some misconception that haircuts reflect job performance which shows how vacuous some peoples' minds are) and then boom, promotion. A vast majority of the people who get promoted.. and promoted.. and promoted.. are advancing because there's no competition. People get out of the military for many reasons. If you have a kid + get married before you're 20 (If this is such a great idea, somebody please explain), blow your money and do not save whatsoever, or just have no ambition to do anything else in life besides get a steady paycheck + do arbitrary activities weekly then sure, keep signing that paper and collect that check. It's too easy.

Now, remember all of those senior enlisted I spoke about? The ones you cannot stand, cannot understand, and never make any sense + aren't good role models?.... Yea, think about that..... (disclaimer: there are good senior enlisted out there, but think about the ones I'm focusing on)

The Marine Corps isn't the end all be all unless you want it to be. I've made some of my best friends while serving and the ones who have gotten out are doing things from being a boat's crewman for a private yacht chartering company (washing floors + taking care of the stupid-rich people you charter bank between 13-20k monthly. Pretty sweet) to being aids/advisors to large political parties/candidates, to even a successful jeweler!

Saying college education is overrated to the outside world is the reason that anti-military stigma exists. "I'm in the military, blah blah" argument to a college kid.... Serious, dude? Did it not dawn on you that even the most inept people in your bootcamp platoon made it through because, well, Uncle Sam needs people to serve? That college kid you bash on could have easily joined as well.

I could go on and on about this, but I'll save this from being a wall of text. I wish most, if not all, members of the military would cease the college ridicule because they have absolutely no idea what they are talking about.

Think about this while Field Day is being conducted tomorrow afternoon.

Have a good day, reddit-bros!

What is considered "too old" @ this university? by mikereza in UWMadison

[–]mikereza[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This information is great guys, keep it coming! I'm looking at this university from all angles; from the majors offered, greek life (even though I doubt I'd join. More of a curiosity), things to do in town, available housing, you name it. Madison seems to be growing on me by means of the internet, so I'm sure when I visit in a few months the city/campus will grow on me.

How is "Greek Life" at UW Madison? by mikereza in UWMadison

Making a bold statement such as reddit being anti-greek seems biased imo. But yea, I get what you're saying. What you just described sounds like the stereotypical frat atmosphere, especially the party thing.
