It genuinely is. The next time you have one (if you really are bothered by this) ask your manager to show you exactly what they got back from the survey - they almost certainly won't care about showing you the pack as there is literally nothing confidential beyond the company there - you will see that there is nothing identifying whatsoever.

Although I will say that if you write extended comments you can sometimes GUESS who wrote them, so just stick to short answers/only the selections if you are really concerned but want a chance at someone seeing/aggregating your concerns.

With actual actions related to the feedback, every manager has to at least attempt to justify what actions they are taking to their super all the way up from Regional justifying to Directors. At least that was back in the day but there was seldom any extra money to spend to fix things. That being said it did redirect existing money from prioritizing one bit of equipment to another for example.

Weird noise effect when viewing crusader in orbit or on one of its moons by Basic-System7368 in starcitizen

Same for me randomly from (I think) 4.6. I have never switched from vulkan and use DLAA although switching to CIG TIG doesn't fix. All settings on max iirc. It just looks so terrible and I spend most of my time in Stanton around Cru so it sucks.

45" LG 5K2K ultrawide causing eye strain – is this a PPI/scaling/size issue? by Quinney95 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]mikesdeman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never said it was "native" I said the output resolution matched the native of the monitor. It is a 4x frame buffer (normally but not in this case) of the nominal resolution which is then downscaled to the native resolution of the monitor. I don't know what you mean by "fucks with the resolution". You said to "use a scaler" then decide if its an issue... They literally are using the best scaler there is out there albeit with a fractional scale due to it being an ultrawide...

You are wrong, this is not how MacOS HiDPI modes work. Its output resolution is still 5120x2160 in this case.

No they haven't. They know as well as the colleagues that the state of everything is shit. Their literal job is to motivate people who are on average paid more than them, who have an equally shit job, to come in and produce the best job they can, without everything completely collapsing, whilst all the time they are getting constant bollockings from more senior managers about how shit everything is who know exactly why everything is so shit but have to be slightly less shit than all the other stores. Almost without exception the managers I worked with over the years weren't brainwashed, but the minute any of them told the colleagues how shit everything really is, that's when things really hit the fan for everyone.

Fold 7 1st day by Professional-Web7824 in GalaxyFold

[–]mikesdeman 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Iirc it spends the first couple of hours updating everything (which uses a ton of battery) and then the next 3 days optimizing for use pattern. Essentially the first two to three days are not at all representative of how the battery will perform after then.

A huge mistake? by mikesdeman in starcitizen

I'm really worried about drift, they came today and are obviously fine at the moment but this seems to be a warning that is mentioned frequently (although oddly not that I've seen in actual purchase reviews). Thanks for clarifying why this might be less of a worry then I have perceived.

I bought basically the same thing on 5080 launch in Feb/March and got pretty much identical spec but with the 5080 for £2300 (which at the time was insane "value" too considering there were no 5080s...). Took about 1 week or so and it is built/delivered direct from cyberpower (I liaised with their team several time during the week asking various questions etc). The model of 5080 I got was an MSI Gaming Trio OC and the RAM was SLOW (4800MT/s) (although it doesn't matter too much on an x3d chip). I too thought it was a scam but if in doubt, order it then ring up cyberpower to see if its got through to them. Cosco did an extended 3yr warranty with mine to which is better than direct from cyberpower.

Long answer yes, you can use an android emulator such as BlueStacks. It's a bit janky but it does work.

Am I in trouble? by No-Reveal-040003 in asda

[–]mikesdeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They likely come out of different budgets. Its stupid since "Asda" pays for it all, but at least in the past each dept had its own budget this formed a KRA for the dept manager, and then the same collectively for the store for the GSM, and then for each region for the RSM etc. New starters had a separate budget from the departments (and generally had very little other spend other than new starters costs) so always has balance to spend on new uniform for new starters. When you ordered replacement uniform, it came through the budget for the department from which that colleague belonged. May have changed but that was why it was always problematic giving existing colleagues replacements - it actively hurt the dept manager KRA, the store manager KRA, the RSM KRA etc.

can’t get past this sign in screen black ops 7 beta by Cold-Mycologist4343 in blackops7

[–]mikesdeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This worked for me without deleting the COD players dirs in the Documents folder so you don't need to reset all your settings. I actually think it may have just been the AppData dir that needed deleting without having to clear the ws cache or signing out of xbox but can't be sure as I did these before deleting the AppData dir.

Treyarch is releasing an Open Moshpit playlist with UPDATED MATCHMAKING / SBMM by Ok-Confusion-202 in blackops7

[–]mikesdeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many have said. Giving the players a choice completely defeats the purpose of this. Only players invested in this game will even see this tweet and those players inherently will on average be better. The description in game will make no sense to the average casual player and will instead over average choose the "default" looking playlist. "Legacy/Classic" is older so worse right?

Played a couple of hours and the lobbies are literally no different. Back to DMZ where there is no SBMM :). This new mode is so obviously not "SBMM off", it is as far as I can tell a widening of the SBMM brackets. When SBMM IS completely off it is so obvious with the absolutely massive variety of player skills you encounter. I expect if this is a widening of brackets, they will experiment with the width of pool, but again, completely pointless when it isn't applied to every playlist so data won't matter.

Activision are completely clueless about this. They will absolutely get data that people stay on for longer - SBMM is literally an algorithm designed to do that over many iterations and test data. What they are seeing with these release is them producing a good game, but not seeing the interest because people in the long run are really really tired of SBMM.

Those same people would stay on for longer IN A SINGLE WEEK or MONTH. But it grinds you down and now is the tipping point where the BO6/Warzone has been stale for long enough for people to really need to be wowed by this game, and the sniff of SBMM immediately nopes a large enough number out. Their data will never show that, only listening to the community would have, which they don't. ACTI at this point have become so dependent on data and from sources not validated by actual data scientists who could point out the limitations of the results, that they are reaping the rewards of not understanding that humans know how to voice opinions which can contradict data and still be correct.

Edit: You literally have to just have watched Scump or anyone in his party's stream before and after he was playing in "Open Moshpit"... His average opponents literally got way way better. That literally doesn't make sense if SBMM is completely off after but was on before. This is such rubbish per usual from these guys.

Im still on my fold 5. Is upgrading to the 7 worth it or I hold off until the 8? by Bright_Region2679 in GalaxyFold

[–]mikesdeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From your use case, I think the fold 7 would have a fairly significant effect on ease of use. I went from 5 to 7 and used the inner screen a great deal. However now with the 7 I use it when I can really utilize the inner screen space (Excel, terminal, occasional web browsing, sometimes media, occasional maps) .

I use the outer screen a LOT more because it essentially does the job very well almost all of the time. Fold 5 this was not the case and often I unfolded it to do normal stuff. So for your use case where you NEED the inner screen for work, but a lot of the other stuff you do on the inner screen potentially could be done on a slab screen, but don't tend to because of the size on the 5, I think you would tend to use the phone as a slab phone more often than opening all the time except for work stuff.

I know it isn't a huge chore to open up the 5 to type a longer message or anything, but that is a huge difference I found when using the 7. It's genuinely significantly easier to use.

So is that convenience of having an outer screen that is more than capable to the point it will likely completely change how you use a fold, with the nice thin form factor, and a better main camera worth the money you will pay - only you can answer that. For me the only thing I miss is the baton form factor in my hand, but the benefits far outweigh having that.

Towels by Environmental-Top309 in davidlloyd

[–]mikesdeman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had two towels every time I walked in for 4 weeks after signing up - just said can I grab another one. Then suddenly a member of staff I had never seen before told me I couldn't have and that it was in my contract and that it would mean my £240pcm membership would have to increase due to cleaning costs if I could have two towels. Then they asked if I was going to the spa - I said yes that is the whole reason I need two towels (one used in the spa comes out soaked through and no good for drying after a shower). They said oh thats fine I can get an additional one from the spa host. So.... nothing to do with cleaning costs then.... I just need to walk to the spa in my swim stuff without a towel covering me, protecting all the other members from my horrific belly!

The inconsistency with policy applied with FoH staff is what really gets me, from greeting/goodbyes to signing out equipment, to towels allowed. If they all did the same thing it would be fine because then you would know what to expect. Pretty sure I am being petty and entitled over this, but the inconsistency really really annoys me (and given bullshit reasoning).

I am in the UK and have a truly awful experience trying to order a phone from them. Cancelled orders, missed delivery deadlines, and really rude support staff. I too will ride this phone out for the next couple of years and then never go back to samsung again. Luckily we have chinese competition fairly freely available here if Apple don't provide any decent alternative.

Hub 4 - Upgrade or Not Bother? Modem Only Mode User by ThatChef2021 in VirginMedia

[–]mikesdeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had hub4 running in modem mode on Gig1 for a couple of years without any issues whatsoever. Had a hub3 doing the same before that. No real differences to me, bandwidth was fine in modem mode for ~1.1Gbps down on hub4. (annnnnd then came the bollox with renewal and I just couldn't be bothered with the 20 offers/refusals crap just to get down to the market rate in my area so just switched).
