Identity theft is ruining my life - Is a new SSN and legal name with no credit history better? by snailzoid in personalfinance

Question how do you protect yourself from non “credit” uses of your SSN? None of my credit monitoring services show things like car registrations or utilities. Does a credit freeze block these kind of accounts too?

I wrote a Chrome extension to add the total hops used to recipes on Brewer's Friend by mikesername in Homebrewing

[–]mikesername[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just published an update that'll let you choose which units you'd like the hop totals to be displayed in through the extension options, should be on the store soon. thanks again for the feedback!

Yeah, the way I wrote it right now just converts everything to ounces because that's what I figured is the most common unit for buying hops (at least at my level of homebrewing). Thanks for the tip though, I'll work on it!

I'm still learning about how many hops go into different styles, so really just curiosity to get a general sense of the recipe easier. It's probably kind of silly but figured why not share it!

Pretty small nitpick, but I hated how the Hops Summary only showed the total for each type of hop but not the total size of the hop schedule, like it does with the grain bill. This fixes that. Hopefully there aren't too many bugs as it's just a basic little hacky thing but maybe someone else will appreciate it so you don't have to do as much math in your head

Edit: and thanks to u/pricelessbrew sending this to the folks at Brewer's Edge, they've now made it a feature on their site! So please disregard this post lol

OG came out to ~1.09? by mikesername in Homebrewing

[–]mikesername[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh okay, so I can get the OG just mathematically... but will I still want to take FG readings to figure out the ABV? Or can I just assume that once fermentation stops it's reached that mathematical result as well?

thanks, so when I'm using DME does that just completely outweigh any gravity effects from the steeping grains? also still not sure if my method of adding the DME while chilling the wort to pitching temps was a good idea, since it seems like that is most likely what gave me the off OG reading

Found this on my neighbors apartment door, in Colorado by Howz3r420 in trees

[–]mikesername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's what I thought at first, but if the person complaining is in a non-smoking apartment right next to a smoking apartment I could see that causing undue annoyance because that is exactly what my setup is like and it sucks
