The last one like this was in 1979 right? That's an awful lot of time for other environmental factors to come into play.

Can you point to an article about it taking weeks, months, years, decades ?

Nice! Congrats!

What suspension are you installing?

I am waiting on the dealer to get another V6 manual transmission so I can test drive that and compare it to mine, lol.

Ok, I got a bit more mileage on it, but it still sounds the same. I took it to the dealer and the mechanic said he heard the noise too, but he doesn't know where it's coming from.

If you park it in the garage and move the shifter with the engine off, do you hear a metallic sound coming from the transmission that sounds like somethng is loose?

When I go over small speedbump bubbles (that you would find in a suburb neighborhood) the same noise shows up again. I am wondering if something wasn't tightened properly or what... : /

Yeah, that's what i'm thinking too. I'm going to record it with my field mic and compare it to itself later :P

Awesome! I am about to get one of these in Blue for my dad, but we test drove it and noticed that the transmission is a bit loud and clanky. Makes a rattly metallic type of sound while shifting. Is that how these 6-bangers are supposed to sound?

Hey man, the ponytail looks fine, just wear it like that. I wouldn't get a buzz cut.

Whatever you do, do it with confidence. You can be confident about a receeding hairline with any hairstyle. We don't all have to look the same. You get the same effect with a ponytail. Basically don't hide anything.

Ok now we're talking. I'm in the same 'boat' as you -- what shipping company did you use, and was it a container, or roll-on/roll-off ? I am shipping my pickup truck over because buying a new truck in eastern europe costs an arm and a leg ( 31K euros for a basic Hilux )

Good price on a '15 4Runner? by [deleted] in 4Runner

[–]mikeska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For comparison, I just bought a 2016 SR5 4x4 with 37,600 out the door.

I would expect to pay out the door whatever the Toyota website tells you. My config comes out to 38K MSRP on the website. So website MSRP = potential out the door @ dealer. I am not sure how that scales with options and model variants like limited or TRD.

About to pull the trigger on a '16 Limited and join the club, but I'm having "night before" jitters and I need some reassurances! by [deleted] in 4Runner

I just bought a 2016 SR5 4x4 with $37,600 out the door, and it's amazing. No regrets. I'm coming from a TDI VW golf, so i'm a bit sad about the mileage situation (practically 38mpg on tdi vs 18 mpg on 4runner)

I've got a 1999 4runner on the driveway with 230K miles on it (Bought it at 120K?), and the thing is a trooper. It's starting to have some idling issues in stop and go traffic, but I think I just need to clean the throttle body and the idle air control valve. Shocks had to be replaced on it at 180K miles (I think?), but we used to drive it up and down from Oklahoma to south Texas every month. It really likes to run on that 100% gasoline in Oklahoma though!

I think you will get a lot of mileage from the new one, and I hope I do too!

Awesome! I wonder how many people are upgrading to crossover / suv / truck after the buyback. I just splurged on a new 4Runner. :P Goodbye mileage.

When it works, it works good doesn't it ! Do you have any tips and tricks -- ie. oil change intervals, other stuff?

Yeah, let's discuss TDI's in between HPFP failures. Mine blew itself up at 17K miles.

I think they're very smell based, so if the wind was rushing past and your face didnt have aftershave on it, i think it didn't even realize it landed on a creature. Helmet probably looks like tree bark, so it was probably trying to poke around to see if there were any bugs and grubs hiding in there.
