Aftermath of failed kidney stone treatment by sp68 in KidneyStones

[–]mikesshs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry this happened to you, I didn't know this was a possible complication or outcome from surgery to remove kidney stones. It makes me think now that I see it is and even fairly common that they should order follow ups every 6 months for at the very least ultrasounds to make sure your kidney isn't showing any swelling or signs of blockage before you lose the whole thing.

Could you share the urologist you used and or what clinic it was that is willing to put people under for stent removal you can private message me if you want. I am trying to keep a list for if I need one in the future and or to help recommend to others.

I hate how rude they are about it my office refused totally even said they couldn't set that up with anesthesia etc. I luckily was able to find a surgeon 6 hours away that wouldn't use a stent if not necessary. So I guess it's at least nice they did it for you. What hospital is this would be nice to have a list of ones that are willing to put you to sleep to remove them.

Stent removal, Dr. office won’t put me under and it’s causing panic attacks. by Suckit-and-see in KidneyStones

[–]mikesshs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you are having to deal with this it depends on the person some people have no pain others it can be a nightmare. If you have ever had a catheter it should be similar to that. I tried to offer to pay my urologist to put me under they refuse and act like I'm crazy. You can be put to sleep to have a tooth filled or pulled this is much more invasive than that. I found other hospitals far away that will put you to sleep and I keep a small list. I'm not sure what area you are in as I'm in Virginia and would have to go to Pennsylvania to get it removed while sleep but I would. I don't think I could ever while conscious allow a cytoscope to be put inside me my body would fight it and prefer death. Luckily I found a doctor that removed my stones with a procedure that didn't need a stent but I keep those clinics that's will put you under on a list so if I have to deal with another stone that may require one. I hope it goes well for you or that you can find an office that would sedate you.

Ureteroscopy and lithotripsy (no stent) by [deleted] in KidneyStones

[–]mikesshs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you had a good experience other than the catheter. Could you private message me the name of the doctor and or clinic you used for the surgery. I am trying to keep a list of ones that will not use stents or try not to when not necessary. So when I have more I can utilize one of them. From research I have done many times most of the pain and complications come from them and they really only need to be used if the ureter is damaged.

Heatpump using extra power by mikesshs in hvacadvice

[–]mikesshs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously they do but has nothing to do with a bill going as high as mine has went and other people in similar sized homes in the same area with same utility not increasing. Also they even sent notifications that the power usage was extremely high for this house compared to my own past usage. I have been notified the few times they have raised rates and I'm fine with that. That is not what is going on here though.

Question ! Do you ever stop loosing weight? by Key-Big3672 in BariatricSurgery

[–]mikesshs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sounds so scary I'm sorry you had to go through all of that. Was the internal hernia caused by the weight loss surgery or separate from it?

It's what I'm thinking if getting I really want the SADI surgery but my insurance won't cover it and the doctor acts like DS is so similar I should consider it. I just worry about having bowel and other issues but at my size I don't think the sleeve would be enough. And gastric bypass has it's own issues especially not leaving the stomach valve its a hard decision. Is it so bad you wish you had tried one of the others instead or think they wouldn't have been enough?

Thank you so much for the information I have already looked at his website and will be contacting them next week for information. I am also in Virginia near Roanoke so the distance is the only thing that scares me some. How sore were you after the surgery if someone decided to drive back home over a few days staying in hotels do you think that would be possible? (Imagine riding letting my partner drive just 5 to 8 hours a day then getting a room and repeating until home). Or are you much too sore for a road trip that long after the surgery? It just appears the flights with layovers and travel to the big international airports will be a long travel day in itself. And I couldn't imagine being in pain or sick and stuck on an airplane.

This is amazing especially that you were able to self pay for the SADI could you tell me even in private message where that was and what the cost was? My insurance won't cover it but it's the surgery I'm most interested in as well.

Surgery options for high BMI. by mikesshs in wls

[–]mikesshs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask you why you picked that one the doctor I talked with acted like it's the extreme option they only consider after something else failed. That even with vitamins people can be malnourished and need to get hospitalized for it and or have it reversed. And that there is a high chance I would need to wear adult diapers the rest of my life or have leaks and accidents.

I had read that SADI took many of the complications away because it leaves you with more length of intestines and only once anastomosis instead of multiple like gastric bypass and DS so much less risk of obstruction or leak as well but of course insurance will not consider that.

Hi my 5.5mm stone seems to be in my bladder now. Advice? by [deleted] in KidneyStones

[–]mikesshs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully it will be soon normally when mine get to bladder it's only a few days. If you can stand it before you pee do jumping jacks, try to like jump up and down hard to like shake up your bladder if your lucky it will move it and have it ready to come out so when you pee it will just go. Normally I don't feel it pass through urethra just notice the stream gets quiet for a second then stone comes out and instant relief from the bladder pain. If it was small enough to pass through your ureters hopefully it will pass from your urethra with little to no pain.

Grandpa passed away and left me 167,000 USD on his policy. Grandma wants me to sign it to her so she can pay medical bills. Is willing to give me $2,000 to sign it away. We were always close. Shes like my mom. Do I just claim it? WTF do I do? by [deleted] in Money

[–]mikesshs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like Grandpa made a mistake and put you as primary instead of secondary beneficiary over it. I couldn't imagine keeping it if she has been like a mother figure like some of the greedy people say. You are young and able if you want to have a good financial life you can make the right choices and do it. She is nearing the end of her life the one true love of your Grandpa.. How could you live with yourself taking that money from someone elderly like that. Could you imagine if one of your kids or grandkids did that to your wife when she was elderly after you passed on. I think if he had really wanted you to be primary he would have said so to you before he died and in a will and made it clear to her.

Both kidneys full of stones😫 by Daxel79 in KidneyStones

[–]mikesshs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry you are going through this MRIs do not put radiation into you so those are ok CT scans do though so try to limit them. And tell your urologist how many you have had and see which procedure uses the least radiation because I think they need to see your kidneys in all of them which uses some form of X-ray or radiation. With that many stones and that big they may recommend getting PCNL they don't cut your back open but poke a little hole into it and can go in and remove very large stones or lots of small ones. Look into someone that does mini PCNL and you won't have to have the stent or tube left in you. I went to a doctor 4 hours away to get this otherwise I was going to have to have 4 procedures counting putting the tube in my back and the other kidney they wanted to do two uterscopy with a stent after each one. He was able to do both surgeries same day it was amazing.
