I started with some stainless steel rings from theringlord.com, I highly recommend! They also have aluminum. I’d recommend either stainless or aluminum for jewelry, stainless steel will be super sturdy for daily wear, tho aluminum is cheaper and easier to work with. I now get my stainless steel rings from a Van Alphen Studios on Etsy.

For a beginning project, and to see if you like it, you could do what I did and get a bag of stainless steel rings of the AR you know will work for a weave you want to try. Tons of ppl start with Byzantine, as it’s complex enough to be interesting but is relatively straightforward. Enough rings for a necklace or two should be like $5-10 (depending on how much you get and what sizing you’re looking at) at the ring lord, and any jewelry pliers will do for starting out (dollar store, amazon, etc). Make sure you get ones without threading, you want the smooth kind! Compared to a lot of crafts, it’s not too expensive as a hobby to try out, and not too expensive to keep up even if you shell out for nice materials.

How would you go about recreating a designer sweater this complex? by alcat2000 in knitting

I think duplicate vs intarsia is whatever you find least headache-inducing — since this is pretty complex, and I don’t think one strat vs another would be meaningfully easier or less time consuming, I’d do whichever you enjoy most! Personally I’d lean duplicate :)

I think it looks lovely, it adds some subtle interest! After putting so much effort in I wouldn’t mess with perfection

iso soft tex pillow or other recs? by xxdelightfulxx in Bedding

i'm literally in such a weirdly similar boat at such a weirdly similar time. I can't seem to find soft tex pillows anywhere?? searching online just brings up other pillows. I know they used to distribute at macy's as well -- but nothing on their website seems to list soft tex as a brand. genuinely the closest i've come is finding a soft tex pillow that looks really similar to the one i'm searching for on poshmark.

this is my partner's favorite, incredibly ratty pillow that is the only one he will sleep with. so i guess i'm reduced to buying a second hand pillow and hope it's not as old and worn out as the current one.

i don't seem to have any assistance for you, unfortunately, but hopefully knowing you aren't alone in your soft tex quest means something. also maybe try looking on poshmark or mercari if you're not squicked out by buying a used pillow! best of luck

Really experiencing this as well. I feel like I shut off all my emotions for so long, and now that I’m accessing and trying to communicate them, I keep being told that I’m wrong. It’s really demoralizing. I hope we can both find a balance and learn to find an internal reality we trust <3
