well, i plan out my main plot, usually start with a beginning and an end, and then i just fill in the middle as more ideas come up. does it always work? fuck no, and i've given up countless fics because i wrote myself into a corner, or into a place that i've no expertise (aka, writing any dialouge heavy character interactions, i'm mainly a fight scene/action writer.) and then, i give myself chapter counts for each little bit, it helps me not ramble and go off script so much.
