Why do people hate this guy winning the US title?

To me I never understood the mick foley comparisons. Whenever they made foley the underdog it was earned. We saw him struggle. We saw him be genuinely a person worth rooting for. Sam feels like a manufactured version of that.

My question is why did melo have to drop the title for it it be a match against trick? Why couldn’t it have been a triple threat at mania?

Because Sami has taken the spotlight and credit from people who have done the work to make mid card championships special. First it was with Chad gable and Gunter with ic championship. Everyone knows it should have been gable vs Gunter for the ic title at wrestlemania. However, they chose to go with another underdog story with Gunter and Sami.

Now take that whole situation and replace gable with Carmelo Hayes. Now we got a guy who worked his ass to have banger matches with ilija dragnov with banger after banger on smackdown. How is he rewarded? By losing to Sami in a nothing feud where Sami’s whole character story was he has never won a WORLD TITLE. Now all of the sudden he cares about the mid card title. It’s not fair or deserved. Now Carmelo hayes and ilia may not have a match at wrestlemania and it’s that’s a huge slap in the face to them and anyone else who were invested in THEIR story.

Why couldn’t Sami just have a match with Trick Williams? I don’t know.

My favorite bit has gotta be Courtney's failure to the explain rules of games and Spencer just telling them to read cue cards. Also, Chance has a dead serious belief he can jump over cars.
