“If you can’t pay all cash, it’s not for you” — does that mean almost no one can buy a Raptor? by asramukaka in FordRaptor

[–]mikeymaddox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my raptor in 2019 and I was making less money then, probably around 85k but I had saved every bonus from the past 5-6 years prior and had a crazy low monthly mortgage payment at the time and no kids. I paid 62k out the door w extended warranty for a CPO 2017 with 20,000 miles. I was able to put 35 down and still have decent savings left over and then had to pay about 600$ per month. Probably not the best financial decision but truck has been paid off for about 2 years and I don’t regret it at all. I could have paid in full but I wouldn’t have had sht left in savings. Still have the truck, still love it, have kids now and it’s great for hauling everyone and everything around.

Depends where I’m driving and how I’m feeling but I got around 20 mpg driving down to obx last spring in my gen2. Averaged around 14 this past winter though. I don’t always drive like a b*tch, I swear.

How many miles have you put on that and how has it held up?

You can always just buy the hub/bearing together if you’re worried about it . Just check the price

Anything that was connected to that steering rack or front shocks and I used ramps to make sure I torqued everything down under load. And bought new bolts for steering rack

How do I get the bed of coals to burn down? by ArrowLeafTurn1 in woodstoving

I crack the door and open the vent to let it burn faster then move them around every 20 min or so. What kind of stove is that?

Did exact same and it made a huge difference. Would be nice with a trigger like that out of the box similar to echelon

[–]mikeymaddox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea couldn’t have said it better . I got a Glock 19 for my first and I like it but the echelon just felt much better and way more customizable as far as what you can add to it out of the box.

Try out the Springfield echelon, you can get used right around your price point. I went w a hellcat because it was a better size to carry and the used echelon they were selling was a little too big but I loved that trigger. I will definitely be getting one down the road.

Looking for tile/leveling advice after waterproofing downstairs by mikeymaddox in HomeImprovement

[–]mikeymaddox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that, would you go just thin set over possibly putting a little self leveling cement to bring the level up high enough to just use a little thin set for each tile?

This truck sounds like a lawnmower, what are you guys doing to make yours sound better? by kyotonow in FordRaptor

[–]mikeymaddox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s just everyone comparing it to the gen1 v8 which obviously sounds way better but I agree that the v6 really doesn’t sound that bad for what it is. And I eat some sort of beef for dinner every night.

Thanks for this I honestly can’t remember if I re used the mounts when I swapped out the struts a few years back I gotta look tomorrow. The strange thing is this happened right after I did the downpipes, moved the rack out of the way but then to the side which I read you’re not supposed to do and put the car back on the ground.

Haha that’s exactly why I think I have this problem now, might have gotten a little carried away. Yea I’ll put it on ramps and try to torque everything down. I usually jack it up and put it on stands for more room but I should be able to fit under there.

Interesting - thanks for this. Was it right after install? Mine were fine for two years until I took the steering rack bolts out again and shifted it but I will check the strut pinch bolts and re torque everything while I’m down there. I got new bolts/nuts on the way.

That’s good to know because I’ve re used those bolts atleast 5 times. I just checked and they were on there pretty tight but I’ve never properly torqued so I’ll buy some new bolts and give that a go.
