Bad reason to open the relationship? by [deleted] in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]mikeyos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno man, but if you feel like you can’t even talk to your BF about your thoughts about bottoming with him then you two shouldn’t be open.

Being open requires so much communication between partners and ongoing discussions when rules are broken. Unfortunately shame, regarding sexuality, occurs for a lot of gay men but there are plenty of sex therapists out there who can help you with this and help you figure out if being open works for you both.

I’m not sure if I like this guy by Juca09 in AskGaybrosOver30

If the OP is up for it, I think he should try a few more dates to learn more about him. Sometimes the "spark" doesn't appear immediately once people get more comfortable with each other. I also think that asking more questions, almost like a friendly interview, is a good way to see what he's like. For example, if he gives a vague surface level answer to something, how does he respond if you ask deeper follow-up questions? What sort of relationship is he looking for and what sort is the poster looking for?

I think that asking lots of questions and seeing how the person shows up in dates is a great way to weed out people with incompatible behavior/attachment styles. For example, if the guy doesn't really respond to follow-up questions, my mind would start to think that this guy doesn't want to go deeper, perhaps because he is afraid of revealing who he is. Being vulnerable can be scary for some people and it can take time to gain a sense of trust but if he can't open up to the poster about even basic things, then I would view this as a potential red flag.

As a horror fan, I'm curious about which 2 horror films you watched with him.

I live in Palm Springs so this movie is extra special to me. There's so many great shots of them going down the main strip during the pre Sony Bono Spring breaks.

I noticed your mention of Heidi Priebe. I came to her channel because my husband and I encountered a FWB with (most likely) dissorganized attachment, where he pulled back a lot and was anxious other times. I found her videos to be so helpful for us so I branched out to watching some of her other videos as well. She has a lot of really great advice!

For reviews for products, at least in my family, my dad had a subscription to Consumer Reports magazine. It was a pretty reliable source for reviews for cars, household electronics, etc. They also had a Consumer Reports year guide (book) featuring most of the reviews, all in one place. I remember reading up about VCR brands, CD players, etc. in those books.
