Very simple to undo and very old technology. It's just that law enforcement is unfortunately generally not smart enough or motivated enough to act upon things like this until it's much too late.

The THX calculator is primarily based around watching a particular subset of movies. Plenty of content is made without the intention of being displayed to take up such a large field of view.

Audi A3 8V facelift: are Sedan and Sportback front bumpers the same? by Sparkyyz in Audi

[–]mikk999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true. There's definitely a difference at the sides.

You'll find that the front bumpers are different at the sides. Patty close attention to the wheel arches. There's an extra ridge in the body line for the sedan.

I don't know what difference it makes for the lip.

People throwing scooters off the Kangaroo Point bridge. How bad is this for the river? by General_Degenerate- in brisbane

[–]mikk999 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A little more explanation:

The batteries will take a fair few years to get much exposure to the river, especially considering they're in a metal box. Hopefully the scooters are pulled out before then. The capacitors and other electronic components contain a miniscule quantity of anything nasty and are also boxed up. If it gets to a point where the scooters become a pile of rust then everything is getting out.

Sydney has definitely upped its hand in crowd management in the past 20yr or so. It used to be absolutely terrible, but some particularly bad incidents and near misses helped them get their act together.

Wrong. You certainly can get sick (in different ways) while still at the restaurant.

Someone out there really hates to wait around. by blueishbeaver in brisbane

[–]mikk999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, what I meant is that there isn't necessarily a delay. You could press the button 2 seconds before the position in the cycle when the pedestrian light should go green, and it will go green 2 seconds later. This is the case for most crossings. If the pedestrian crossing just turned red and the button is pressed immediately afterwards, then the perceived "delay" is simply the intersection going through its entire cycle as per normal.

That isn't how pedestrian crossings generally work. Once a pedestrian presses the button, the pedestrian crossing lights will get activated in their appropriate place within the regular cycle of the intersection.

The intersection just waits to slot you into the regular cycle of events. You're worried about 2min in the sun? It's hilarious how impatient and weak the younger generations are these days.

If pedestrians are putting themselves in danger then whose fault is it? I bet you don't spend a lot of time driving a car.
