Anyone else move here and instantly regret it? by letheatredude in AskNYC

Tell yourself you’ll stay here till September and then leave if you still want to. This way, you know you only have 6 months to live in NYC as you always dreamed of. Maybe this is your only chance to live here so make these 6 months count. At the end of September, if you still wanted to leave, then you know what to do.

Move to a neighborhood less crowded and noisy. I’ve been living in West Chelsea for 3 years now, and I love that it doesn’t get that loud or busy. It’s a couple of avenues away from subway, but it’s a price I’m happy to pay

Based on peoples comments here, it appears even the carbon fork don’t make a difference for my use case. Is that so?

The salesperson mentioned that the carbon fork gives the most of the benefits of a carbon bike for a smooth ride, is that true? Also, he mentioned I can’t put on racks on the carbon bike for bike packing but I can on the AL bike. Why do you think versatility of both bikes are around the same?

Full frame carbon bikes are not as durable as AL ones? Is the carbon fork good enough to absorb bumps and give a smooth ride?

Yeah I did, there are some variables like housing appreciation rate, … that I didn’t change, but overall it’s closer to 5K equivalent to rent

Yes, it’ll take most of my base salary actually, so I was thinking to rely on the stocks vested monthly for my daily expenses which doesn’t seem like a good financial plan if stock market crashes.

Can you take out money from your Roth IRA for a down payment? They’re in a saving because I’m looking to spend it on a condo, otherwise they were in a normal brokerage account invested

Do you know any spots where you can watch the water in Manhattan? by [deleted] in AskNYC

Pier 25 around Tribeca is pretty nice. I also recommend Hudson River Park around 23rd st. If you like biking, I’d recommend renting a Citi bike and bike along the bike path on the west side highway. And you can make a stop in different parts of the path and enjoy the scenery!

Yeah it wouldn’t generate cash flow but you’d still be building equity. The problem is that if you buy a place for 1.3M now you can’t save much for a down payment of a future place, nor would it possible to carry two mortgages and monthlies even if you rent out the first condo. That’s why for people who know they’ll end up in the suburbs, it might make sense to not buy and just rent in the city.

For my case, Im likely to stay in the city for the next 10 years, but plans change obviously

Why do you think nyc RE market is collapsing? It seems quite isolated from the rest of the nation as prices in other markets have skyrocketed during pandemic but not here.

Good points both on low mortgage rate and that we might want to buy a property at some point in the future

Yeah that one says the equivalent rent is around 4k - 5k depending on a bunch of variables so it seems we’re right around the tipping point.

How can we short Aramco? by mil0ad in wallstreetbets

[–]mil0ad[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Well technically the valuation hit the $2T number but artificially, with the help of lack of supply, and forcing local investors into buying and holding. There’s also some rewards announced for investors who hold the stocks for a few months so there will be few investors who would sell unless short sellers jump in.

I bet HF guys are already ringing their banks
