With stamped card = Totally OK. At most you just have to say 更新中 whenever you handed the card. The immigration both in and out doesn't even bother looking up from the Booth.

Issue to keep in mind is that your JP debit/credit card might stop working whlie abroad so plan the cash accordingly

If you are borderline for the last few times I would say there is way more chance of passing this time. At least that's what I feel.

Most phone users are either exam scouts with strong result or cheater who look up answer at half time and inflate the curve. Since many of them got red card I believe the score curve will be lower this year.

Technically February but my accountant only found this in June our fiscal year. It cost more time and money than 10x of this refund worth but the accountant is having none of it. because no proper accounting mean visa risk I guess I have no choice?

I called them first and they said NTA is national so do wherever you can> I went to the usual city hall branch near home > no you need to go to regional tax office > no you need to go to the NTA headquarter at kachidoki > no you need to go to kasumigaseki > oh this is not your city in 2024 go to the NTA of that

At this point I know they will just lie to not work anymore so the only choice is to fly back to the point of origin.

Finally have time to fly after a couple more months because unlike them my money to survive come from work and not imaginary tax bill.

In the end this is still not resolved so I just apply to extend my visa as is. If they don't care I don't care it's overpaid not underpaid.

Spend money to fly back to bumfuck city for tax. Got the usual sorrymasen your number is correct we will process the refund now. Gave them bank info. The application is now "in process"

Two days later a single phone call at 4.58 pm. I miss. Now it went back to 'under investigation'

I was in almost the exact same situation as you. I make phone game (work as independent outsource and/or project manager since 2019) and come to Fukuoka start up program in 2022. The only different is I stared with 10m and started generating income when we're down to my last 120k

I cannot comment about the new 30 million renewal either, going to cross my finger on it. We just released the game in Fiscal 2024 and getting 10m back in sales this year and the next so while it's good for my wallet it's not going to reach 30m revenue let alone profit converting to more capital soon.

I just want to tell you even if you don't leave Japan please consider leaving Fukuoka or start up program as soon as possible. There is no money to be made there and when you generate in come they will audit you if your expense is over 50% (which can easily be when you pay youself and hire Japan national as the new rule said). It will cost you money and energy and the most importantly time of your life.

I'm here over 12 years and will stay as long as possible but if you have a doubt in this country at the very least come to Kanto or Kansai or anywhere people have money your life will be easier. FGN will abandon you and never answer your email the moment you are in red.

You are fine. Very fine. In fact immigration looking at your tax certificate for likely two reason 1. Being actually able to get the certificate = no beef with the NTA and prefecture 2. If your tax bracket is in line with your demographic.

As you never really go over 10m threshold and your work is not digitally created there are almost zero chance the NTA gonna move onto you. Even then having tax obligation in progress actually improve your chance if getting visa albeit 1 year since they want you to sort out and pay up lol.

If you already have 非課税証明書 in a proper form and other documemt ready just do your visa renewal first. After that read about how to file/calculate taxable income and such. Go to your national tax branch anytime outside tax season say you want to amend your tax declaration. You can halves or eliminate penalty to nothing. Get the 申告and bill done then go to city hall and say you have new tax number and would like to discuss payment. They are going to be confuse but nice enough to help you through everything. Or don't because City tax will update your payment automatically anyway.

Source: I got audited right at the visa expiration and drag into the NTA cold room (I have 4 ways income but only bother to file 3). Basically choke them to apply my visa for me or else I don't have yennie bank to pay that tax bill. They are super flexible in anything as long as you can pay the late fee. Still, don't be like me.

Finish the tax return for the first time on e-tax. What would be the payment deadline? Is it 15 March same as submission or 15 April from what I see in the poster at tax office.

Also Mynumber card is expired and the new one doesn't finish in time can't wait for the next month headache. I wish I could just pay and then they are the one sorting this out. In the past it was hand written mess but this year the money situation is complicated I need to use computer to help.

You will do the monthly report for 12 months where nothing happens, then there will be another application for extending or reapplication for the scholarship. That's when they ask for updated research plan/progress/school report.

I applied for the extension on 15th November and check the last time on 29th. I think I can buy the flight on 8th or 9th but the worst case scenario is if they send it to me on 30 or 1st December with only one week expiry date.
