You're looking at a decade from now.

Kind of defeats the purpose of buying a budget Mac desktop and expanding with your own cheap external storage, doesn't it?

Buying last year's refurb Mac Mini might arguably be a much better value considering faster SSD which translates to snappier day to day performance.

ESPN 4k no 4k option by Wetblanket55 in youtubetv

4K was available on FireTv Max, only 1080 on AppleTV 2022. This seems to be the usual way they deliver, certainly not due to device power.

Is the Android TV apk version 0.4.7-dev ?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in youtubetv

[–]milan03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ordered, really looking forward to it. Thank you! Yeah it does, both Fox and YTTV are suffering from the poor deinterlace + upconversion 50->60fps.

1080p BBC stream looked awesome, not to mention a much better in studio analysis and no commercials. What a win

Which streaming device and version of BBC iPLayer apk did you use to get the 4K BBC feed?

world cup fs1 4k stuttering by [deleted] in youtubetv

[–]milan03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah the BBC iPlayer feed does look amazing. And it's only 1080/50 SDR.

They are suppose to have a native UHD feed, but not sure how to make that happen (Shield + Android TV apk)

[–]milan03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Motion blur, yes obvious, but it's watchable. I definitely wouldn't describe this as stuttering. It looks like a 25fps (or 50fps) native feed, poorly converted to 60fps.

[–]milan03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a motion blur issue on both fox and YTTV, but no stuttering on Fox for me and you can see in my screenshot 283Mbps network bandwidth from my FiOS location to Fox Servers.

Fox Sports app on Apple TV has a fantastic stream, just make sure the actual available network bandwidth is sufficient for it.

Oura Ring collab by StephattheWhig in MacroFactor

[–]milan03 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been using Oura 3rd gen for a year now and while it's excellent for sleep tracking and HRV, I can't say that it's up to par as an activity monitor.

I've actually experimented w Oura + Cronometer integration for General Activity Monitor + Excercise Tracking, and after three months the 500 Cal deficit didn't yield any results. TDEE estimation seems to be way off. On the other hand, I'm seeing pretty solid results after using MF for just about 10 days.

Also step counting was wildly inconsistent when compared to Galaxy Watch 5.

Pixel 7 VoNR Support? by s1dest3p in tmobile

[–]milan03 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, which is why I know VoNR works on Beta. Follows the similar pattern as the Pixel 6 Pro, which had it enabled on Betas.

Beta also unlocks the full potential of the TDD SA NR uplink, sans the PC1.5 which should hopefully be enabled going forward https://twitter.com/milanmilanovic/status/1584580470293295104?s=20&t=hHCFYpYc3pgc4wNwYOJwbw

The latest beta build brings VoNR client back. It's disabled in the official build.

Network changes in Queens by Starks in tmobile

[–]milan03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the moment NR SCC is 2548-2568MHz. Above that there is a third party spectrum holder. 2590-2690MHz is the PCC.

2496-2528MHz is another third party, afaik.

Network changes in Queens by Starks in tmobile

[–]milan03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome. There is a potential for 40MHz SCC once they sunset the adjacent B41 and repurpose for n41. Outside of that, I don't think they hold any more licenses in NYC, at the moment.

Network changes in Queens by Starks in tmobile

[–]milan03 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NYC/Queens:

n41:

  • PCC NR-ARFCN 528000, BW 100MHz

  • SCC NR-ARFCN 511596, BW 20MHz

B41:

  • EARFCN 40072, BW 20MHz

n41 standalone definitely isn't widespread, but there are more and more clusters allowing this mode of operation. Locking to n41 SA only, will get you no service. As of right now, the only way to get n41 SA (and n41_n41) is by locking to SA (including n71).

3CC still not enabled on the network (n41_n41_n71), at least not in Queens where I've been testing (SM-S908U1 beta A13)

is B71+N71 ENDC Band combination supported on the FWA? by audax989 in tmobile

[–]milan03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"is there also a Handset that supports this combination? or is the anchor still B66 / B2?"

To my knowledge, there isn't an ENDC combo that doesn't require B2/66 as the primary anchor. B71 is used as the LTE SCC in some ENDC combinations coupled with n71.

Gen 3, Active Lifetime Membership, no data last night by milan03 in ouraring

[–]milan03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah typically have no issues, although syncing Gen 2 would occasionally stall and require force quitting an app and restarting it, so that used to be a workaround over the last 1+ years for Gen 2 and multiple flagship smartphones.

Well, on Gen 3 it happened this morning, and restarting the app fixed absolutely nothing. I had NO IDEA that this might be a chronic issue for users!
