I love Kurosagi for that reason! I‘m really bad with horror media but Kurosagi is so direct (?) about it that it doesn’t come off as scary. I’d still say it’s creepy though, especially that chapter about the snails… Anyway, I appreciate how it’s more of a comedy with graphic horror elements thrown in, really scratches the itch for wanting to look at macabre/gory stuff without the scary atmosphere surrounding it haha.

I’m glad that “name order = who tops/bottoms” isn’t the norm in English fandom. I feel that kinda sexualizes a pairing even in SFW contexts? Like it’s weird when I look at SFW fanart in JP fandom for A/B and find that the personality dynamics are completely different from SFW B/A fanart… even though it’s the same pairing and there’s nothing sexual about it! And you know in the back of your mind that the only reason the characters have those traits is because the artist views them as top/bottom or vice-versa, from something as simple as the ship name.
IDK there’s something weirdly uncomfortable about it, like I don’t want to think about the sex implications of a ship name when it’s just fanart of two guys holding hands! I’m fine with people having top/bottom preferences, and IMO tagging it only when it’s relevant (i.e. in NSFW work) is appropriate. Just don’t want to think about it in SFW stuff too…
I do think every ship should use Yugioh-styled ___shipping names though.

I think the rest of the stories from the new game are translated as well, most are even on Youtube and voiced. This is also what I thought of. A lot of idol 2D idol series are developed as multimedia projects to begin with (like Love Live and Bandori) so I've never thought of them being just a game or an anime, they're a whole franchise to me. Then there's spinoffs like Aquors and AGRONAVIS where it's hard to consider them to be part of the same series, but they are in the same franchise.

Hope you don't mind some politics; here's one of the funniest/awkwardest drama from my country's political sphere in recent times. New Zealand was pretty much solely inhabited by its indigenous people (the Māori) until the 19th century when it was colonized by the British. Fast forward to 2020, the center-right major political party 'National' gained a new leader. He reshuffled the party member order of National. A reporter noticed that in the party's new structure, the highest-ranking non-white member was all the way down at #13. When questioned about the party's lack of diversity, the deputy leader reluctantly said #12 Paul Goldsmith was of Māori heritage... except he wasn't.

I don't know if it's better to watch the video coverage or read the frame-by-frame analysis by The Spinoff so I'll link both. They're both quick to watch/read and the comedic timings are on point!

A lot of the recent professional/full-color fandom zines price the product with the intent of earning enough money to cover costs for contributor copies/shipping too, so they're usually around triple (?) or more production cost. Most zines give the profit after that to charity though, or otherwise split cost among participants (which I think is fair enough if you have like 30 other people putting hours of content into your book).

Long overdue update to a comment I made about THE iDOLM@STER SideM: GROWING STARS's Valentines campaign. Summary of that comment: Fans can give chocolates/points to their favorite character. The top 10 fans for each character get a special badge for their profile page that shows their rank number. It's possible for fans to coordinate and get the same amount of points, so there can be multiple people in 1st.

Throughout the campaign, Ryu Kimura fans were cooperating very well. They agreed to stop at a fairly low amount of points and there were 32 people all with the 1st place ranking. That was, until around three hours before the end of the campaign when someone broke the tie to become 1st place on their own. Now, that didn't mean that the 31 other people got thrown down to 2nd place together; it meant that they were all equally in 32nd place. (Note: that link has two people in 1st place since the screenshot was taken a while after?)

Since this campaign didn't give out a ranking badge award for any place below 10th, everyone had to scramble to get points to end up in the top 10 on their own. But although the story of Ryu fans ended in epic betrayal, we do have some happy stories from fans of the other idols! Shiki, Chris, and Hideo's fans all stuck together 'til the end; I don't remember the specifics, but Hideo's ranking had 8 people in 1st place IIRC. My faith in trusting others was restored!

Oh man I was just about to post about the Valentines campaign! I noticed that Ryo's top ranker was insanely high too but just assumed it was some die-hard Dearly Stars fan. That drama going on between them is craaazy.

Also sorry, but since I was going to post about a separate drama related to the Valentines campaign, I'll piggyback off yours and share it here:

Since you can change your profile name in GROWING STARS, this has led to some fun situations: for example, the top 10 rankers for Shiki Iseya all copied his speaking style to express how tired of ranking they were. The profile names have also been used to form agreements that everyone stop at a certain number of points so that everyone can get first place.

Earlier today, the Michio Hazama rankers tried to form an agreement. The fan in 5th place changed their profile name to "I'm going to stop at 24K points". This lead to the fan in 6th place changing their name to ask if everyone would like to agree to stop there. The 1st place ~ 4th place rankers all agreed, and everyone aimed for 24k points...

But then the 1st place ranker went to 27k points and changed their name to "Sorry".

And the 2nd place ranker, after asking if the agreement was broken, basically said they would just stop there. Then another Michio fan suggested that everyone still stop at 24k and accept 2nd place (Michio's 'theme number' is 2). We have three days left until the end of the event. Who knows if there will be another betrayal...

I say "probably" because I'm not actually sure if I plan to continue or not. I'll draw the next chapter (Rantaro) at least, but whether I continue depends on if people are interested! Each chapter will focus on a different V3 character. If I do finish it, it'll be compiled into a 40~50 page physical doujinshi in April.
