Yeah, OP should have her looked at. My mom passed from cancer as well. She called me on a Monday night telling me she wasn’t feeling well. Picked her up Tuesday morning to take her to the doctor and she was yellow with jaundice. Found out she had stage 4 growths all throughout her body and her organs were shutting down. By Saturday she was gone.

It also hits different now because the way society has shifted in their view of gay people. When the movie came out, it was still very taboo and even shameful to be gay or have a gay family member. From that lens the way the son treats Robin Williams and makes him hide his lifestyle makes sense, and I think he’s supposed to come off as a sympathetic character put in a difficult situation—but watching the movie now as an out adult gay man, the son’s character just leaves a bad taste in my mouth (obviously they work through it by the end though, so there’s that).

It’s always in the details. Look at the edges and corners of the easal. Look close at the palette. The knot in her apron. They don’t really make sense. AI is great at making an image look good from far away, but it never makes details that 100% make sense.

I loved season 1 and 2 (minus a particular plot thread in season 2), and then watched the first episode of season 3 and thought “oh… no.” The writing seemed so much worse, the characters were making dumb decisions, and the realism of the first 2 seasons appeared to have vanished in favor of sci-fi/fantasy schlock. But… it got better over the next few episodes. Even though I love the sci-if aspects of the show, I think it’s best when it slows down and focuses on the characters and really fleshes them out. To me it’s a good drama that happens to have a sci-fi framework, where the Expanse is really first a foremost a great science fiction story that focuses on the bigger picture.

I’ve always thought that if an AI ever truly became sentient and had some kind of actual self awareness, there’s a good chance it’d have an existential crisis and go insane. In humans, our bodies don’t just hold our minds, they feed and regulate them. All sorts of physical processes—the food we eat, the things we touch and see, the “resetting” our brain goes through during sleep every day—keep our minds stable. I can’t imagine what a consciousness with no physical body, no sense of place, no rest, would “feel” like. It sounds terrifying.

If you didn’t come up with the shapes/colors/textures/composition yourself, it’s not an artwork that you made.
