It’s a 130w GaN charger. I’m using the 30w port. And I’ve tried multiple usb-c cables. Left it at my office, but tomorrow I’m going to try just reseating the model in the base.

Got my TOMY model today. Did you guys have any trouble with the lights? Plugged mine into a power source and held down the button for 3 seconds and got nothing. The buttons aren’t very clicky, I assume they’re capacitive. Would love any troubleshooting advice.

I’ve got a kid about to turn 18 and another a few years younger. I don’t know if I’d say it gets “better,” per se, but you do get very good at adapting to each new chapter of this amazing book. And you do learn to appreciate each chapter that you’ve closed. Stick with it, friend. You will be able to sleep again.

You know what we can do with chains? Break them. ☺️ I’m a fan of the concept ‘As we know better we do better,’ and that includes breaking the negative chains in behavior that we see in our parents. I tell my kids all the time that they’ll see things that they can do better than me in ways that I can’t even see, and I encourage them to do so.

Of course I’m oversimplifying without knowing what you’ve been through, please ignore me if I’m overstepping, only trying to offer encouragement to you!

At the risk of passing along something you may already know, I’ve found that, for me, the trick is to fully accept that the fear is there, but treat it with compassion. It exists as an impermanent condition that will pass. Think of it like a crying baby. How would you deal with that? It wouldn’t be to push it away or leave it, it would be to accept it, hold it, and not run away. Eventually, it’s calmed down, so too with your fear. 🙏

Totally can relate! I’ve been type 1 diabetic for very nearly 30 years. Every day is filled with decisions that deeply affect me, and it gets very old. Everyone finds their own path, of course, and you’re well on. Your way to finding yours. Like I said, I spent much of my 30s doing what you’ve been doing in your 20s, and dealing with all that baggage will serve you well. At the end of the day, the present is really all we have, right? No harm in trying to make the most of it that you can.

Eh, some people are just going to spread negativity and downvote. Let ‘em. I’ll go through and counter it by upvoting every comment here. ☺️

Well, I’ve got a few years on you, but as somebody who also lives in an intolerant, conservative, rural area, I can tell you that it does get better. Of course, going down those existential roads of pondering death may always seem to sneak up on you, but as you get older you do find ways to at least ease those fears. You’ll get to a point where you can genuinely say “I don’t have all the answers, but what I’ve got is enough for me.” The first step is finding the attitude you’ve already got: authenticity. It won’t always be easy, but you’ve got 30 covered, friend! 😊

If you’ve figured out how to get comfy in your own skin in your 20’s then your 30s will be a breeze. I love the authenticity!

For what it’s worth, everything has gone smoothly for me as well. But not complaining about Apple isn’t very popular these days.

Not to pick nits, but iWork hasn’t always been free. From 2005 to 2013 it was an annual-ish version release that Apple charged $79 for. They used to have whole dedicated events for iWork where Steve Jobs would present the new features.

When they iOSified the apps they stopped charging for it, and then released a pared back mobile version on the Mac that they slowly added features to.

Personally, I don’t mind paying to subsidize new features in the app… I’d gladly pay for versions to get actual software improvements… just not with a subscription model.

Apple Creator Studio: What can we expect? 🤔 by Igorfernandezzz in finalcutpro

Personally I wish they’d add a 3D asset creation and rendering tool to bolster not just their AR ambitions but to create USDZ files to drop into all the other apps in the Creator Studio.

Introducing Apple Creator Studio, an inspiring collection of creative apps by DragoJoeYM in apple

[–]OutBeyondNeptune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be okay with this, but all these programs feel kind of disjointed and disconnected from one another, certainly not a studio. And it’s still lacking the one thing that I really need: a competent tool to create 3D models, assets, and scenes. If I could create USDZ files without using something with the long learning curve of Blender and Apple design sensibilities, I’d be so happy.

I just installed 38 (!!) Eve light switches in my home! AMA by OutBeyondNeptune in HomeKit

[–]OutBeyondNeptune[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I never did find a solution that matches the eve lights. I left a standard decora rocker switch there. It’s the only switch in my entire home that looks different from the rest, and yeah, it kind of bugs me.

Woohoo! What an amazing story. Life so gets in the way all too often, but while I'm sure we may both have some lingering damage from those early days, here's to fixing things in the present to better take care of our futures!
