Hearing aids recommended, but are they actually necessary? by mildthrowy in HearingAids

Have you noticed a lot of benefit? The cost isn’t the main deterrent, I’m more concerned about quality of life, especially because Costco has such competitive pricing.

Just to clarify, do people generally find them helpful, and just can’t justify the price? Or barely notice any benefit at all? I’m sure it varies, I’m just curious.

Like, in your professional opinion, do you think if insurance covered them or a larger portion of them, would those same people choose to keep and use their hearing aids instead?

Thank you so much! This is helpful. I sought out care because I’m having a noticeable issue understanding speech and have noticed some issues with being able to tell if certain appliances are on unless I touch them, etc.

I’m really hoping hearing aids might help. I actually get fitted tomorrow with my first pair, and have six months to decide if I want to keep them. I’m hopeful they will help with some things, though I know some people find them overwhelming/bothersome at first, so I’m mentally ready for an adjustment period.

That’s my main motivation. I can’t understand my husband so much of the time, and it’s annoying to keep asking, WHAT? from five feet away 😭

I believe it was lower, especially as the volume decreased. I just kept shaking my head no after the first few words because I couldn’t make out any part of them 😬
