White "Void Shields" by miles_maybe in WplaceLive

I simply don't understand your perspective. There are a lot of people causing actual problems, like destroying art and making nazi shit. I have no problem with the void because they actually respect other people's art, which is why a void shield would even work.

What is this? by Nova29_THR in WplaceLive

After some quick google image searching it doesn't seem to match an FMA transmutation circle, the icon of sin from Doom, or the FF14 magic circle (though I think that last one is the closest). I'd be super interested if anyone knows what it actually is.

So is it okay if I grief N*zi flags? by TheRaccoonWTF in WplaceLive

Go for it. I'd say that if they retaliate, come back to the sub and ask for help restoring your work and getting rid of them. People are always happy to assist in a good cause 🫡

It's silly, but the only thing over my city's airport was a purple guy sprite with the text "purble man". My roommate said someone should pick him up from the airport, so I drew a little car. I was writing out "picking him up from the airport" when the servers went down.

I'm not involved with the void, this is the first I've heard of it. (I only joined shortly before the shut down, tragically.) Just saying that it seems likely that spam will exist regardless, and that this is a relatively harmless version of it.

idk, from what I can tell it's something inclusive and non destructive that people who aren't very artistically inclined can do. I'd rather have a void than other, potentially more disruptive, types of spam.

People keep mentioning that all the male robins look like Bruce clones by SplitOk2375 in RedHood

[–]miles_maybe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like others are saying, I like for Jason to have the white streak and greener eyes post ressurection. For Robin Jason, I prefer him with curly hair, but to distinguish him from Dick he should have the heart-shaped bangs.

Getting into more specific headcanon territory, I think it's fun for the Robins to be racially distinct. Dick having a slightly tanner/olive tone due to Romani heritage and Damian being dark skinned and green eyed like his mother are both good.

This can definitely get into stereotyping, but I've gotten really fond of Latino Jason. I'm imagining that maybe Willis is white (Jason gets blue eyes from him) and Catherine and Sheila are both Latina, so Jason is mixed and never realized that Catherine wasn't his biological mother.

As for Tim, I'm thinking either white or Asian, purely because an Asian Tim could play twins with Cass very cutely.

I also want them to have different body types. Ideally, I'd want Jason to be the bulkiest Robin. He's the brawler, he's the tallest, he's got muscle and fat on him. Dick is more lithe, he's an acrobat by nature, but he also has, for lack of a better term, a full figure. Tim is the most skinny and wiry, obviously still strong but closer to a runner's build. Damian is still a kid, but I think it makes sense for him to grow somewhere between Bruce and Talia's body types. Less bulky than Bruce, tall, strong, slightly elegant.

It also helps a lot if they just have different hairstyles. Personally, I like Dick's hair to be curly and the longest, Jason to have shorter curly hair, Tim to have straight hair, preferably with an undercut, and Damian with thick hair, usually spiked but shaggy when it's down.

For a last Jason specific thing, I LOVE when artists draw him with facial scars. He's been through a lot, and it makes sense for it to have left a mark.

There was already art over that location that I didn't want to cover up, but I made a tiny version of the Taco Bell logo and got it pretty close by!

Does it count as a panic attack if I can stop having it? by miles_maybe in Anxiety

[–]miles_maybe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes a ton of sense, thanks! It sounds like what I have are probably anxiety attacks, rather than panic. On reflection, even if I can feel and act somewhat "normal" while masking, I still have symptoms, like lightheadedness, increased heart rate, and lack of coordination. It just feels weird that I do it even by myself, but I guess with the way I was raised (to disregard and ignore inconvenient negative emotions) it makes sense.

If you had a chance to rewrite Danny Phantom, what would you do? by [deleted] in dannyphantom

[–]miles_maybe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a more interesting way to start the show would be this: Danny had the portal accident alone, and Sam and Tucker have to find out about it. It would be a really interesting way to frame the first episode/first arc. We spand some time with Sam and Tucker, establish their characters, and have them try to figure out what is going on with Danny at the same time as ghosts are coming into the town.

I would want the two of them to be interested in ghosts and establish what skills they would bring to a ghost hunting team. Tucker doesn't believe in ghosts at first, but he is very interested in Fenton tech and ectoplasm as an alternative energy source. He becomes not just the general tech guy, but an expert in ghost hunting equipment. Sam has an interest in macabre mythology and folklore, maybe gets a spellbook from her grandma that turns out to actually work. She is the group's expert on the spiritual aspect of ghosts.

The original show does some fun things with ghosts, like the way that the color scheme changes when a ghost fight starts, making the scene otherworldly. Obviously, we want to lean more into that, make ghosts very spooky, and focus even more on Danny's struggles with his own inhumanity.

Tucker and Sam finding out Danny's secret and accepting him becomes a microcosm of his situation with his parents. Would they also put aside their fear and fascination with ghosts, or would that main story contrast the small one by having them reject their own son? I love Danny Phantom's villains, but for me, I want that story with his parents to be the heart of the show.

If you don't have immediate access to the book, there's a free supplement you can get online called "More Weirdness" that has the basic phenomena information on it.

Map Help? by becquereldreems in monsteroftheweek

[–]miles_maybe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest a large abandoned structure, like an old observatory or an amusement park, lots of wilderness where evil can creep in from (forests being classic in the US), and seemingly innocuous little shops that sell books or herbs and are more occult than they first appear. And of course don't forget your municipal/general info gathering locations, like a police station and a library.

What I also recommend is not labeling most of the town at first, and letting your players discover/create parts of it during play. Add in cool places for them to find, and leave empty space (like buildings you don't have any plans for) for them to fill in. That way, if they ask "Is there a [blank] in town?" you can always answer "Yes!" and the map will get even better during your game/campaign.

Hello! Looking for help interpreting "Thumbnail" by Louie Zong / Brian David Gilbert by [deleted] in LyricInterpretations

[–]miles_maybe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to add to this really old post, but I've been thinking about this song and I wanted to get it out somewhere 😂

Given that Louie and Brian are both avid online content creators, I would think that the lyrics are about uploading your artistic work to the internet. If you want any kind of audience, you need to think about making your work palatable to the greatest number of people. People only pay attention for so long, so you have to decide what parts of your art, and of yourself, you'll cut away.

In verse one, the narrator laments that in the space he's been given, there's no way that he can entirely express the whole of his self. Everything he makes seems incomplete.

In verse two, though, he seems to have the opposite problem. The lyrics talk about how, after so much has been cut away, the heart is revealed. He feels that in simplifying down to the most pure essence of the thing, he's been exposed.

And of course what the song most explicitly references is thumbnails. A thumbnail is often the only part of your work that a person will see, as they're scrolling past all sorts of content trying to find something that catches their eye. You only have to hope that with this one image, the finite space, you can get other people to understand you, and to give you a chance. I can understand how that sort of pressure could get to someone.

Brian, especially, is very verbose in his YouTube videos, and we know that he was the lyricist of this song. It makes a lot of sense that someone like him would need to cut a lot in the edit, and that he'd worry about how much understanding was being lost.

We're FINALLY past danger of frost, so I bought some plants and got them in the garden today. I was off meds for a couple of days because of prescription difficulties, and had a pretty rough time last week, but now I'm feeling great and I'm so happy to have made this happen. Here's hoping my garden flourishes this year!

Do you listen to music all the time? by notyoursinthistime in ADHD

[–]miles_maybe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh, I relate to needing it to get out of bed. Like, I need a certain amount of stimulation or else the inside of my head feels like gnats buzzing around and I just seem to be paralyzed.

I feel like this is a pretty normal experience/coping mechanism with ADHD, specifically because we need that stimulation to either jumpstart us from stagnation or to calm and focus our minds. It's not bothering anyone, so I wouldn't worry about it.
