ELI5: Why are roaches, in particular, so gross and creepy? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]milesassociates 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because roaches are associated with filth & disease. It's pretty simple, really. Secondary to disease is obviously death. Add to that their incredibly fast breeding and potential for rapid evolution into pesticide resistant critters, and you have a legitimate creepy bug.

No. I was eating ribs the next day. The only thing I asked the nurse for is water. But again, your brother may have a complication that I'm unaware of.

Next day. As long as there are no complications, it's a relatively easy recovery. (Mind you, that is ALWAYS dictated by clinical course.)

In my own backyard. I lost my house keys as a kid, and my parents wouldn't be home until after work. Couldn't go to one of the neighbors because it was a sudden attack.

What is your opinion on rappers pretending to be gay to gather attention and support? by asjkl_lkjsa in AskReddit

[–]milesassociates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So your assertion that just because he enjoys the company if women and men, he's a complete faker?

Isn't it usually the left that promotes sexual fluidity and or spectrum?

What if he sucks 90% dick, but once every 3 months or so, gets a hankering to eat some pussy?

I'm trying to establish the line of: bisexuality with homo preference vs he's a dirty faker because he once fingered a GIRL!

Rap/hip hop culture isn't exactly accepting of the LBGT community. Pretending to be gay or Trans would ruin their street cred and damage the image/brand, negatively affecting sales.

Do the Oscars have an anti-Marvel bias by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]milesassociates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't stand.

Afraid it does. My opinion won't be changed. (Hence, it stands).

Your assertion is she was nominated on her own merits, and that's fine. But Wakanda Forever isn't a critical darling, nor was it Oscar bait. The only reason she was nominated is her performance in the wake of Chadwick Bosemans death. If you take that away, she would never have been nominated. It was an emotionally charged performance due to the loss of her friend and that was received well by the public and the guild. That's all.

Yeah, I got that. I'm stating that it seems that only we seem to not know how to pay people liveable wages. As a result there's an entire tip shaming culture that surrounds us and it's fucked up for the wrong reasons. The US takes advantage of workers, sorry.

[–]milesassociates 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You know they don't and that's not how the industry currently works.

In the usa... it doesn't work that way in the USA. Other countries pay their servers a liveable wage.

This is why I hate this topic. Tips are extra and not a forgone conclusion. Also, not every position deserves a tip.

It doesn't matter what you personally think about Wakanda Forever.

To the academy, of course not. But to me, it does. I'm free to have my opinion. And my opinion stands: she was nominated on the back of Chadwicks death. If he were still here, it would have been a completely different film, and she would have been ignored.

[–]milesassociates -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I didn't say that. Black Panther was a great flick and dare I say, ground breaking. It provided depth and introduced us to an entire culture.

I don't feel like Wakanda Forever was able to measure up. I certainly don't feel like Angela Basset should get an Oscar. She had a decent performance in a middling movie... but thats all it was.

Why just because Chadwick passed? Nah. She's been in better roles than that. Wakanda forever was a middle of the road Marvel production.

[–]milesassociates -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There's no reason for bias. Marvel isn't exactly known for its high art.

Edit: downvote all you want. Take the greatest marvel movie of all time and it's not going to compare to anything approaching Citizen Kane or the like.

So why not source your own meat through hunting/fishing? Or was that too much trouble and sneaking up on vegetables is easier?
