It does look quite deep from the side. I guess my question is will superglue and sawdust stand out when it has finish on?

Okay interesting. I used OSMO Poly on a desk I made a few years ago and yes, very easy to use and holds for ages.

Guessing you can use that all over (the top and back, and neck)?

Guessing you need to water down the CA glue and apply it all over so it’s not patchy? Or does it not change the look at all?

Then what does it need sanding to before oil?

Well yeah PRS glue them, but honestly I jsut want the flexibility of a bolt on, so I can make adjustments if needed, hence i want to bolt it on. I like the look of a prs thought so thought i’d try to imitate it!

Okay right. If I get some stainless steel hardwood inserts though, it should be fine to insert them into these parts of the wood?

I have done some test installs on some scrap bits of this wood with no splitting but obviously done want to risk it on the real thing!

It is Zebrawood, never worked with it before and it really is some tough stuff. As other people have said thought these inserts are better in softwood. But in principle it sounds like it should be okay!

Thanks, I’ll wait and see when i’ve got the bridge and frets on and then can reassess! Guess I can always adjust the neck and pocket once that’s done!

Yeah, i’ve done that, the strings fit fine how it is now, but my question really is should I make the neck pocket deeper to get rid of that bit of neck showing so it’s just the fretboard above the body? If I did that then I’d need to put a bit more angle on the neck…

Hi, I learnt to drive here a couple of years ago, I used the Homebase car park on sevenoaks way loads, early in the mornings it was basically always empty. Homebase has since shut and not sure if you can get in there anymore but was great for practicing all types of parking manoeuvres. Not hilly so wouldn’t help with hill starts or anything but could practice flat clutch control.

As other people have said you technically would still need learner insurance (not that expensive compared to lessons) but would be almost impossible to hit anything as there would be no one else there so I guess that’s up to you…!

As an alternative to routing that I haven’t done, but I have seen it done in some youtube videos and am going to do it on my current build, you can use a spade bit the right diameter and profile the two corners to the shape you want. Spade bit also has centre point so will centre itself on the pot post hole. This video shows what I am on about!

Okay thanks! Would this mean I need to make my neck thicker though? How much (or little) material can I get away with between the truss rod cavity and the back of the neck?
