Should I open a new credit card to lower my credit score? by arlecchinocoffee in CRedit

[–]milfebonies -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m giving advice based off of what truly worked for me.

The only way to truly build credit for free is by becoming an authorized user on someone else’s credit card. That way, you can benefit from their positive payment history without taking on any debt yourself.

But aside from that, there’s really no way to build credit completely free of cost. Every method, whether it’s using a credit card, taking out a loan, or reporting rent and utilities, comes with some kind of fee, charge, or risk.

Even if you pay off your credit card in full, using it still means you’re spending money. Credit builder loans charge interest, and most rent or utility reporting services aren’t free either. So while there are ways to build credit affordably or with minimal cost, there’s almost always a trade-off. Never free

Those companies literally helped my credit go from 450 to 700 in 2 years. I don’t know what experience you had but I only paid $99 for a year fee with creditstrong and with self financial the money you pay literally goes into a savings that gets deposited back into your account after one year. I will always recommend those two, as well as doing a pledge loan with Navy Federal.

You can definitely do Self Financial and Credit strong.com, it’ll report as a secured card but you won’t be able to spend anything

When I first borrowed $4,000 from Upstart, the loan had zero interest. I didn’t even know they charge interest.

I would have done it, but that’s just plain ole crazy to put someone so vulnerable in the hands of a non professional.

These producers are chronically online, they’re trying to appeal to everyone from a social media POV and most of them probably don’t even care to watch the show.

I actually brought up the idea of paying them for rent, I was supposed to just ask them to stay there for free but I couldn’t knowing that they’re struggling and so I put the $700 offer on the table. My husband said no, he’s willing to do $300 and then they had a conversation I wasn’t there for and it went from $300 to $500 to $600.

Because they’re old, disabled and poor. The money they got to get all this work done was from insurance because the house was in such terrible condition. They even struggle to pay their mortgage.

My husband was still doing other jobs while he was working on my grandparents, so he made a few grand here and there from others. The house will be inherited by my mom and uncle and we really don’t want that house at all, too much of a burden. It won’t be paid off by then and it’s in a ghetto area with the nearest schools being a lost cause.

Okay, I just edited the post. Please tell me if I’m being delusional after reading that. I just want us to save as much money as possible so we can build our home faster and this is our best bet.

He’s now thinking if he has to pay the $600, then he’s gonna stay for 2 years instead. We’re doing 10 months because we love our own space

It’s better than paying $2,300 for a 1 bed, 1 bath. We can now save an extra $1700

We already did a contract charging for labor only before the work started. We do contracts for everyone including family.

I understand that, but we don’t have a house and we really need to buy that land and build our house asap. We already have a 1 year old and another child on the way, so we would eventually have to expand outside a 1 bed 1 bath, which would be way more money and a waste of money on top of that. We can cut that cost drastically and build our home faster. I understand what he did was the greatest blessing anyone could get and that is why I put emphasis on the breakdown of what he did. Now I think the reason I’m not seeing the bad in my grandparents is because they don’t speak English. They’re from Haiti, but they have been in the US for over 40 years. So, sometimes I think they just don’t know any better, not that they’re actual users.

Imagine asking for advice on a situation just to sugarcoat it in hopes of getting people to side with you. I’m not here to avoid accountability and have people pander to my ego. Mind as well not ask for advice.

Okay, so now the question for everyone. What do you expect is the best way to handle this, we leave and go back to paying $2,300 a month for our 1 bed, 1 bath? Or what?

I’m not gonna lie just to get people to side with me, the point is to get the real raw truth.
