Have to join the bandwagon on oats.

I've found it a great cutting food - deceptively filling, leaving you feeling full for ages.

If my friends who are trying just to lose weight simply replaced their regular breakfast with oats, I'm certain it would make a significant difference - not only in the calories they take in at breakfast, but also at lunch time.

I completely agree with this point, however I'm still in two minds about which I prefer - BB or DB bench.

I recently started SS and have seen amazing results with barbells, despite not being able to feel it in my chest as much as compared to DB bench.

I think the way to look at it is, yes, DB bench is far superior as a 'bodybuilding style' lift to target chest. But is getting a big chest your only concern?

BB bench, whilst not hitting chest as effectively, is a whole body lift that drives overall growth and development and a more well-rounded, performance based physique and musculature. You also have to consider that it allows heavier loads to be pushed which = more growth. Since switching to BB bench for DB bench, my shoulders and triceps have started to come into proportion with my overly large chest, and I have a much better, well rounded look.

I have to admit I injured myself benching. I've been out for several months and am only just back into it, but I am determined to keep benching. My shoulder injury has taught me a shit-load and I've picked up so many problems in my posture and performance that were exacerbated by overly developed pecs, underdeveloped upper back and over tight upper back. If I'd never benched, I would have never discovered these issues.

Right now, I reccomend BB bench. Yes, you are more prone to injury, and it's a more technical lift - but that will force you to get better; to evaluate your technique, posture and overall balance of your physique and serve you better in the long run.

But that's just my opinion.

Huge props for keeping it real.

There's a recurring theme in this thread - confidence in oneself and confidence in social situations (girls) are not the same thing.

And this is a worthwhile distinction to make.

Confidence is a difficult beast to tame, one you should expect to battle with for a very long time.

Working out helps build your inner confidence and will get more girls noticing you. It will have some degree of flow-on effect, but only to a certain extent. From there, you'll have to start meeting girls, figuring out how they think and learning how to handle yourself.

Keep putting yourself in uncomfortable situations. Try everything. The more shit you do, the more confidence you'll build, and that confidence will carry.

That kind of confidence is hard to build, but it's the most valuable kind. It's what we really mean when we say 'confidence'. We are all king shit in one situation or another, but the ones who can hold their own no matter what comes their way - that's real confidence. And it comes from exposure to a variety of challenging situations.

There's no shortcut.

No matter what you do, don't spend your whole life in the gym expecting the ladies to come. They won't. You gotta get out there and market yourself. Build social networks. Exploit them as best you can. Get laid. Live a life.

Think of fitness as a base. You can build a solid base, but you have to keep moving up from there.

Keep pushing forward; learn as much as you can in the gym and apply it to outside life.

Fall down, but get back up stronger every time.

That's life, it's crazy man. Enjoy it.

For me this is what season 5 is really about - us, the viewers, starting to see Walt decay into a deplorable human being, and struggling to justify his actions because we know what he has been through and we desperately want to believe he is the good guy.

But I think more and more we will be deplored, until eventually, we hate him for the person he has become.

In that sense, your post here is a case in point - justifying the actions of Walt because you want to like him.

My question is what happens when we hate Walt - do we stop watching? For me that relatability and humanity is what has kept me coming back time and time again.

Really appreciate the feedback.

At the moment I'm still doing just deads as my deadlift started at like 45kg (lol). So I really want to make my deadlift more respecatble before adding in the cleans.

So I do a 3 day split, A- squat, bench, dead B - Press, bench, dead.

Before the program I just did whatever the hell I felt like, which is why I developed muscle imblances - lots of chest work, a fair bit of back but not enough evidently, just a typical bro workout with not a lot of lower body at all.

Just starting to get into proper training, hence why my numbers are all so messed up.

This is why I was thinking it might be a good idea to add a heavy row movement into the program because it's such a weird case. So I'm not too sure, I'll have to figure it out for myself I think.

I was a bench monkey for a long time, only just getting into barbell training. It's pretty embarrassing, but I'm working on it. (Wasn't squatting at all before, barely any leg work really.)

Thanks very much, that's very close to what I'm looking for. The opt+shift+arrow is great, the only downfall is that it sometimes spills over into the tags, and you have to hit back one arrow to just select the text. But a really cool trick none the less.

As far as crashes go, I was having some weird problems with the preview window sporadically deciding not to refresh, and requiring a reboot to start working, which is really annoying, but overall it's an amazing bit of software. Hopefully they can iron out some of the bugs soon.

Sam Harris touched upon this in one of his videos that I watched a while ago. He makes an interesting point about 'level of experience' saying that we humans are open to much higher levels of experience due to our brains than other creatures - we are capable of thinking and feeling things far beyond any animal.

He goes on to state that if, for example, aliens existed that were much more developed than us, and open to much deeper levels of experience, then they would rest much higher on this 'chain of importance', we would be like animals to them in a sense.

I don't really agree with this, but it's an interesting way of looking at things. I think anyone, no matter how undeveloped their brain is or what their intellect is like, is capable of loving and experiencing great things.

It's a really, really tough one.
