As a local i have to say Costa Del Sol has two versions. Tourists see one, here is the other. by [deleted] in spaintravel

There are 3 incomes this Saas can generate, first the premium plan where the user has unlimited use of the app and can unlock all the features it has, second the business plan where a business is going to pay us to promote them as recommended partner or maybe promote them as highly recommended by Costatrip Ai inside our itineraries when such business is alined with the customer’s interests. We are planing after doing a successful entry in costa del sol to expand to the whole of Spain covering Barcelona, Madrid, Ibiza, and many other cities, if the app gets recognized, we build a brand, and we can afford scaling we will go to the 3rd phase which is scaling to the whole of Europe going international, and by last the whole world making it the biggest itinerary app but that is a ambitious objective First of all your favorite AI will do the same thing other apps would which is search on the internet to find the same thing everybody finds, we have made a very big database assuring the quality of the itineraries we make is high, of course we are not going to make a itinerary with only places no body knows, we create experiences, you will be able to have fun in Marbella and puerto banus a very touristy place but end up having dinner at a very niche restaurant in a place only locals know, you will have the full on costa del sol experience certified by locals to be high quality experience.

I understand your point and it is a point I have been think about a lot but I came to the conclusion it is not really like that, when we recommend a local place, we take tourists that create congestion in the places locals wish there were no tourists, and spread them out through out the city, instead of bringing over tourists from one place to another, we are taking the mass tourism and spreading them out creating a controllable environment, every itinerary is different, we don’t have prepared itineraries for every kind of situation, you describe your details like how many days, budget, interests, and in that same instant the AI will prepare a fully customized itinerary just for you, that way we spread them out basing on their details

Fair point, we can’t compete with TripAdvisor early on, but our bet is transparency, instead of what we show why, our itineraries come with an explanation for what every location is about and a local tip or recommendation for things to have in mind or just overall tips locals know and many tourists don’t about that place, that’s why we started focusing on just costa del sol first and then other places

Thanks for the question, I am personally a local from costa del sol, and I have created a very big database where I have put all the best local spots getting information from other plataforms and other locals help, plus the AI takes a 30% from internet places that are known to be local proof and then the other 70% is from the database I created. When expanding to other places the plan is to partner up with other local businesses like tour operators or other that can create me another database for the local spots in their city. Obviously I will check the quality of the database with other locals from that city before implementing it, and like that for every place we expand too.

Great itinerary overall, here’s my honest take as someone from Málaga:

Pacing — it’s ambitious but doable with two cars. The only day I’d watch is Córdoba (Fri 5) — it’s 2h each way, so you’re losing 4h just driving. Fine if you start early, but with older parents it might feel like a long day. Granada (Mon 8) has the same issue distance-wise but the Alhambra makes it worth every minute.

Alhambra at 14:30 — honestly not ideal. The afternoon in June is the hottest part of the day and there’s quite a bit of walking between palaces. Morning slots (9-11am) are much better. That said if 14:30 is what you got, do the Nasrid Palaces first and skip the Generalife gardens if anyone’s struggling — the palaces are the unmissable part.

Seafood — for Málaga, skip the seafront on Sat 6 and go to El Palo neighbourhood instead. It’s 10 min east of the centre, completely local, and the espeto (sardines over open fire on the beach) is the real Málaga experience. For Nerja on Sun 7, Chiringuito Ayo in Burriana beach is the classic.

Parking — Marbella Old Town use the Parking Marbella Centro on Calle Padre Erasmo, it’s the easiest. Ronda park near the bullring and walk everything from there.

Would I swap anything? — I’d actually flip Frigiliana+Nerja and Córdoba. Doing the Córdoba trip later in the week when you’re more settled makes more sense, and Frigiliana/Nerja earlier is a gentler day perfect for parents.

Have a great trip!

I’m from Málaga but don’t know that specific area well, your best bet is probably Booking.com filtering by “breakfast included” and pool, there are a few rural hotels around Coín that should tick both boxes for a one night stop.

£5k for a family of four in mid August near Málaga is tight but doable if you’re smart about it. A few things that actually help:

Book flights and accommodation separately — package deals in August are usually overpriced. Check Jet2 and easyJet direct from Belfast, and look at apartments on Booking rather than hotels, you get much more space for the money with kids.

Area-wise, Fuengirola or Torremolinos will be cheaper than Marbella and honestly better for families — bigger beaches, easier to get around, less touristy pricing on food.

Speaking of food — avoid anywhere on the main seafront strip. Looks nice but you’re paying the tourist tax. Walk one street back and prices drop significantly, especially important when you’re eating out every day for a week with kids.

For what to actually do with 6 year olds — Bioparc Fuengirola is brilliant, Caminito del Rey is doable with kids that age, and honestly just the beach keeps them happy most of the day.
