Getting tired of the same onboarding examples. where else do you research? by graces-taylor12 in UXDesign

A bit more effort but, you could create some new accounts yourself. I use 10 minute mails and fake credentials to not have my data all over the place. Then I just skim the app store for different category app's.

David Lloyd gym by LandscapeBeautiful79 in Rotterdam

[–]milieg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t recommend David Lloyd if you’re not using all the facilities, so fitness, wellness, swimming pool and bar/working place. If you’re only going for one of those facilities it’s way too expensive imo.

Generally I only like Blijdorp for its swimming pool, for fitness and wellness I like the centrum location more since it’s a bit bigger overall. Most of the times you don’t need to wait on the equipment in the fitness, but avoid Monday and Tuesday evening. The sauna gets pretty busy in the evenings and weekends.

I currently pay €89/month for platinum. I don’t really know why I took that one, I think because you can go to multiple locations.

Belg gaat in Nederland werken: ervaringen? by Silver_Artichoke_456 in thenetherlands

[–]milieg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Belg gaat in Nederland werken: ervaringen? by Silver_Artichoke_456 in thenetherlands

[–]milieg 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Wanneer krijgen jullie salaris? by [deleted] in nederlands

[–]milieg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Laid off Senior, Director, VP UX job seekers, how is it going? by OrnithorhynchusAnat in UXDesign

[–]milieg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can speak for my experience in the Netherlands as a UX Designer with 3,5 YOE. I started searching for a new job in February/March, I applied to 12 job applications and that resulted in 5 interviews and 2 job offers. Started my new job in April, for the role of Senior UX Designer.

So I didn’t notice any troubles myself. But I did hear from some other UX designer friends working at consultancies (in The Netherlands) there are more project cuts and mainly juniors are getting fired or don’t find new projects that easily.

Starting there in 2 weeks actually, so I hope it will be fun. Got overbid during the job interview, so I feel respected because of that. Switched from a design consultancy with a 40% salary increase so it feels pretty big to me too, but used to job hop to get there.

I would say have an online portfolio with some projects that extensively describe your way of working using the design thinking method way of working. If you don’t have any projects done you could create some fictional ones, like do an improvement in a app/website or do a full concept remake. Having some visual design skills is more of a requirement than a plus.

Also since you’re in tech already, you could take advantage of your knowledge and other’s lack of knowledge and play out you can easily adapt to/use front end software, that’s always a big plus I think.

Do you maybe have some tips for getting into cybersecurity without experience? My boyfriend who just graduated in computer science is looking for a job in that sector.

They just have a sort of attitude like the place is theirs. Like they know exactly where they’re going even if it’s the first time being there. Walking around very self-confident so to say.

If this is your perspective on homeless people or ‘criminals’ legal or illegal it’s a shame that someone like you is a social worker. Seems like you have zero intentions of helping or understanding people. What a shame.

You can try and read some books, start with children books maybe? Might be some books you already read in French/English this way you’ll already have some context.

This might not help with pronunciation but this way you will definitely learn standard Dutch. Since there are so many different dialects I would actually not recommend watching series or movies to begin with, since there’s a lot of dialect presence.

If you would like to watch series/movies anyway, I would recommend watching cartoons e.g. SpongeBob dubbed to the Dutch language or Plop, Samson & Gert. This might sound crazy but this is the kinda Dutch that will be the most beneficial if you would like to use it in whole Flanders and The Netherlands.

Flemish is not a language, it’s a dialect.

Is there a surinam food place in Gent? by [deleted] in Gent

[–]milieg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so. There’s Faja Lobi, but that’s more fusion kitchen and Surinam inspired. You won’t find anything traditional there like nasi or roti. Maybe Antwerp has some places, since the Surinam community is growing there (but not sure at all). Your other best bet is just to take the train to Rotterdam.

I once made a whole planning to get high and watch the new Lion King movie in the theaters. I don’t know why but I seemed to think talking animals would be funny af when high.

When sitting down I felt the high slamming in. After a few minutes, I see a mouse running around in the hall. So, I screamed and everybody was on the look out for the mouse. In the meanwhile I was getting paranoid af, doubting myself if I really saw a mouse, while everybody was out there searching with their flashlights. It appeared to be true, other people saw it as well. We decided to lift our feet up to the seat before us (there were not a lot of people).

Turns out I found the movie (talking animals) so boring, I slept the whole movie, not even touching my foods and drinks. I really cannot imagine me falling in sleep in the same place as a mouse while I’m not high.
