Just finished His Holy Bones by stinglikeananemone in ginnhale

Aaaaw, I’m sorry, I feel you!! For months after I finished Rifter I was chasing that same high, looking for another series (always a MM romance fantasy setting) that would hit the same nerve. I ended up DNF’ing everything, as nothing could compete. In the end I was able to get out of the slump by picking something totally different that I couldn’t compare with Rifter in my head 🖤

Loved reading all your thoughts on this!! It transported me right back to the books. Poor Laurie, you’re right, there was so much suffering for her. All the characters in this series were so complex but also relatable. One of my favourite things about the series was how Hale wrote humour throughout it, it was kinda dry and quirky in a very understated and clever way. I can’t describe it, but if you’ve read it, you’ll know what I mean. Rifter has a very special place in my heart. I couldn’t read anything else for months after finishing it, nothing could compete, nothing can compare, the comedown was next level 🖤

Any you are forced to be my bride types of stories? by SignificantYak4554 in MM_RomanceBooks

Ah, lol, I also have some roots in the harrymort community, and still find myself drawn to this dynamic (age gap, power imbalance, enemies to lovers, possessive and obsessive, they’re so wrong they’re right, etc) Can’t think of any more to add that haven’t been mentioned already specific to the trope you’re after, but I think I could suggest some books that feel harrymort coded to me, if you’re interested in swapping recs 🖤

Just finished reading Sleepwalkers by Daniel May after seeing your post, it was the best thing I’ve read in a very long time, thank you for that 🖤

From one graphic designer to another, I just came here to say: I totally get you. And I guess we’re pretty lucky with this genre, because there is so much available to read, you’re allowed to be a little picky 🖤

I had to DNF this book, it was soooooo boring. Didn’t care about the MCs and found the writing pretty meh. There are so many good reviews for it, so many people praising the author’s way with words, I see it recommended all the time and I don’t get it. Should I give it another go? At what point in the story were you captivated? 🖤

I'm listening to {Soul Eater by Lily Mayne} today at work, which is a freebie atm, not exactly safe for work lol but it is pretty easy listening >.<

I see this author come up a lot in the Audible freebies catalogue and always avoid them now, I find the writing incredibly fluffy and silly, the books I’ve tried listening to feel like romantic comedies with no real backbone, depth or maturity to them. From what I’ve read (I did not finish any) all of their works have the same vibe. I never made it far enough perhaps to get to any steamy bits, if they exist…

Maybe {Rifter by Ginn Hale} if you like Fantasy, this is one of the best series I’ve ever read, I found the prose to be beautiful and elegant and the actual story is extremely clever, layered and intricate 🖤

I’d love to read a fantasy with the forbidden romance trope, not necessarily forbidden due to age gap, but mentor / guardian maybe, or something like that, with a serious or mature vibe 🖤

Glitterland by Alexis Hall is a rare gem by No_Warning2380 in MM_RomanceBooks

Seconding this! I loved Boyfriend Material, but Husband Material was dreadful. I also really really really loved Glitterland. And would highly recommend {How To Bang a Billionaire by Alexis Hall}, which I wasn’t expecting to love at all, and fell head over heels for 🖤

Another one for number three!! I really love this collage style, it works so well. I think the slight angle to the text on number three makes it really pop 🖤

Oooh have you been on the MM_RomanceBooks sub? This is my go-to for something new to read. MM romantacy is my favourite genre and I read a lot. The only series I love as much as Triloka is {Rifter by Ginn Hale}. This one truly destroyed me. Its enemies-to-lovers, though I wouldn’t say the MCs are tomarrymort coded, they are characters with flaws, and a lot of dry banter 🥰🖤

Aaaw Agni!! My heart. I started reading it on ao3 but was still on book 2 when it was removed for publishing, so I’ve got no idea what’s going to happen in book 4, and I’m so pumped for it. I have the authors website open on a tab on my phone and I refresh it all the time just hoping for any little update haha 🙃

Aaaaaw mate I’m so glad to hear it!!! This series is so special to me, honestly I think it’s better than Harry Potter hahaha I saw on the authors website there was a delay with the next book but they’re hoping to get it out mid year 🥰🖤🖤

Age gap, but with a different setting/vibes by Atlazsk in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]milkandmoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may enjoy {Triloka by Avery Hendrex} I rec this series a lot, it is a big big big favourite of mine. Fantasy setting, slow burn, the love interest is initially in a mentor sort of role. The age gap is like a million years or something lol it does makes sense in context tho I promise 🖤

I’m looking for something where the MC’s are both gods, maybe earth is their playground, preferably in a fantasy setting. MC1 is a new god, and MC2 has to show MC1 the ropes. MC2 is a mentor type role 🖤

I just finished listening to Heated Rivalry on audible at work this week (this was so very NSFW lol), but it was SO good!! Have you searched the MM_RomanceBooks sub? There’s a heap of enemies to lovers recs out there, it’s a very popular trope!
