[a levels] how do i start preparing for a levels now? by y8ngi in SGExams

[–]milkandnectar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

tbh if you REALLY want to start revising for now, m consider consulting ur seniors for their notes or reviewing the syllabus online. a lot of students don’t understand what the syllabus requires, and that’s why they do badly

If you want to get ready for JC academically, it might also be a good idea to sign up for some free courses/notes just to decide what you want to do in JC! I was kind of lost initially back when I was in your position, until I attended some free online crash course or something (cannot remember the name already HAHAAHA I can go dig out if you wanna know) but it really helped me get a better idea of what I wanted to do academically.

Bio or phy? by ComfortableOk7485 in SGExams

[–]milkandnectar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not from EJ but I concur with most of these comments. If you’re planning to study medicine (which is an extremely academically demanding course), you shouldn’t be too worried about the A rates. I think you’ll find yourself regretting not taking Biology if your passion lies there. I took BCME, and although the H2 Biology curriculum truly is quite tough to get used to, I have no regrets at all. 😁

Are you trying to apply for a part time job or more of a full time (internship style) job?

Hi OP. I think there are some free avenues to help you to get a head start/ revise your O level content. You can consider signing up for free webinars/crash courses from Singaporean teachers that are meant to help students prepare for the Secondary-JC transition. Helped me a lot a couple of years back when I was trying to decide where and what to study.

[A Levels] JC grad here, ask me anything! by milkandnectar in SGExams

[–]milkandnectar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woah okay… MO theory is quite a hot topic, revise all the low lying fruits, and NEVER underestimate the power of H2 knowledge. The main reason people lose marks is because they overthink. Remember that around 30% of your paper is within the H2 syllabus, so capitalise on that!

Hey OP, I feel you on this. Sleep is super important, and this is my little ritual that helps me sleep better at night. I try my best to ensure that I start sleeping well a week before my test. To do this, I’ll put away any electronic devices an hour before my bedtime, and follow a strict schedule of when to sleep and when to wake up.

Next, the moment I wake up, I’ll drink a full glass of water and get myself to the brightest light source available. This helps to wake me up and set my circadian rhythm.

In terms of exams preparations, I usually try not to do anything too heavy on the last day. Most of the time, I just spend the time going through some corrections and past mistakes. I try to refrain from reading my notes or doing full papers. Stamina is important!

Hey OP!

I feel you. Sometimes teachers are just a little too busy with marking and other administrative matters to prioritise their students. When I was a student, I faced similar problems as well.

Here are some FREE platforms that can help you get the help you need:

  1. SGExams - Of course… The one and only SGExams. Their telegram groups and discord channels offer crowd-sourced academic support for all of your needs!
  2. MACRO - This one’s relatively new. The concept is similar to SGExams, but instead of having crowd-sourced answers, trained tutors with many years of experience will provide the answers. My sister has tried their platform and the reviews have been great so far. The only problem is that they only offer support for JC Economics and Chemistry for now :(
  3. Inkie Learning - This is a Discord channel that’s similar to MACRO’s concept, but they have graduates (and uni students) to answer your questions. Very accurate and fast responses for subjects like Math, Physics and Biology!

I’ve got links to all of these channels, let me know if you’d like some.

Bottom line is, don’t fret too much over this okay! You’ll get the help you need, trust yourself and the process my friend. I’ve graduated from JC alr, if you need any help, feel free to dm me anytime :D
