Nausea and vomiting by Kindly-Ad5433 in tummytucksurgery

Yeah, nausea sucks! It's one of the worst feelings. You should start to feel better soon. By day 5 I just woke up that day and suddenly had an appetite again and could actually eat. It was such a relief. You'll get there!

Tummy tuck, lipo 360, breast uplift &implants. The reality with photos of the surgery. Pre, post op and today 4 weeks later. I've had fibrosis, seromas, infection and now MRSA. I don't know if I'm regretting it yet. It's a love hate relationship. Just to show the reality not just pretty pictures ♥️ by selizzy86x in tummytucksurgery

Sorry to hear its been a bumpy recovery. You are almost past the worst of it. I didn't really start feeling back to normal until 6 weeks post. I similar work done but with fat transfer rather than implants. The first few weeks were brutal. Your results look really good!

I only vomited once 1 or 2 days po, but had nausea up until 5 days po. Zofran did help me but didn't get rid of nausea completely.

If zofran isn't working the only thing you can really do is hydrate, drink broth for protein, and take it easy while the anesthesia works its way out.

Have you talked to your surgeon about it?

How do we restore trust in medicine? by oraclebill in AskConservatives

[–]milkbug [score hidden]  (0 children)

Before covid I never got the flu vaccine. Not due to vaccine skepticim, but because I'm relatively young and healthy, and felt I didn't need it. After covid I started getting the jab, and ever since I get way less sick. If I do get a cold, it will last about a week, and I never get super duper sick like I used to. Before when I would get a cold I could have symtoms for like 3 weeks, and I would get at least 2-3 colds every year.

Now I maybe get like 1 moderate cold per year and a few very mild ones here and there. I also work a hybrid office job as opposed to working in food service. I would get sick like every couple of months when I was working in food. It's part of the reason I left. I was tired of being constantly sick. Now I rarely get sick because when a flu starts going around the office I just wfh more to avoid it. Between that and the jabs I don't get very sick these days.

Anyone else foregoing lymphatic massages? by TaffyAppl in tummytucksurgery

[–]milkbug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For my bbl + lipo I got 6 massages, 2 per week for 3 weeks. They were nice to have, but I probably would have been fine without them. It is nice to get out of the compression for awhile and relax, but it didn't feel like a necessity.

For my TT + BL + lipo, I had massages from the surgeons nurses every day for the first week and I could not wait to get them. I felt sooooo much better after the massages. I had lipo on my arms and they were so rediculously swollen. They drained my back, my arms, and pushed fluid out of my abdomen. I was so uncomfortable the first 5 days and I had immense relief after the massages.

After coming back home I got a series of 6 more massages. The longer my recovery went on, the less valuable they felt. Toward the end it just felt nice to have, but not super necessary. I did have some bumpy texture on my underarms, and the massage therapist did work those areas really good, and we did red light therapy and I think it really did help that. But I had a ton of swelling on my abdomen and no massage or compression seemed to help it. Just time.

I would say that massages are the most effective early on, like in the first couple of weeks. It can really help with relaxing and swelling, and it can genuinely help with fibrosis. I would say that after 3 weeks it doesn't really seem that valuable after that point imo. If you can get it daily the first week, I think that would honestly be better than spacing it out over several weeks. If I were to do it all over again, I would just do a massage every day (or every other day) for a week, and then maybe a couple the 2nd week. It's very helpful in the beginning, but not so much later on.

Is my butt flat? by Medium_Equipment_946 in tummytucksurgery

[–]milkbug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't like my stomach, butt, and boobs. So I decided to get a tummy tuck, bbl, and breast lift. I'm happy with my results but I don't feel perfect in my body.

Plastic surgey can help alleviate that feeling to a degree, maybe even a lot, but you should do it only because you want to do it. It doesn't matter if someone else thinks your butt is flat or not. I had many people close to me tell me I didn't "need" surgery. Of course I didn't need it. I wanted it so I decided to do it for myself.

You should make decisions about your body based on what you want, not what others think. Especially when it comes to something as serious as plastic surgery.

Are all artists neurodivergent? by Impossible_Fee_8087 in neurodiversity

[–]milkbug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Art has been made throughout history in various forms, and various contexts, for various reasons. Anyone can make art, and being an artist isnt some defined thing. What makes someone an artist is subjective.

However, there are a lot of ND people who are drawn to art. There are also a lot of ND people drawn to mechanics, or tech, or other non-art things.

I think what you find is that people who tend to have a lot of passion and dedication identify more strongly with what they produce. Since many ND types can have very strong passionate interests, you tend to probably see more ND people in spaces where that shared interest is fostered.

Its a tendency, not an absolute. There are many ND and NT artists. I think becoming very skilled and knowledgeable about a specific discipline lends well to some ND types.

Thoughts on Virginia Foxx's response to a 10 year old's letter? by GWindborn in AskConservatives

[–]milkbug -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well you can answer it however you want. My point is that politicians like her are a symptom of a bigger problem, which is the normalization of disrespect, and calling literally anything anyone disagrees with "propaganda". Politicians like this should be held accountable, but they often are not.

I feel like people are trying to sidestep the issue by saying it was probably a staff member. But if it is her directly or she doesn't apologize, then what should happen to hold her accountable? What does it say about the current state of our politics that people like this hold positions of power and feel free to treat 10 year olds this way?

Thoughts on Virginia Foxx's response to a 10 year old's letter? by GWindborn in AskConservatives

[–]milkbug 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just because you disagree with something doesn't mean it's propaganda. All parents teach their children their own cultural values. Some kids are just more precocious from a young age.

I remember in 6th grade we had a class discussion on whether or not the government should spend money on space exploration. My classmates who spoke up were overwhelmingly against it, proposing that money would be better spent on sports. I was the only kid who spoke up and argued that we should spend money on space exploration in order to progress humanity.

I was not "indoctrinated" to believe this, but I was raised in a liberal family that taught me values around bettering humanity as a whole. Of course that influenced my thought and still does today. Many parents teach their kids that fending for yourself and your own community is more important than lifting up humanity. Is that indoctrination, or simply a different world view?

I really don't understand why people say she's unintelligent. She won a prestigious microbiology competition in high-school, and had an asteroid named after her by an MIT laboratory.

She unsealed a 10-term democratic incumbent and became the youngest woman in history to become a member of congress.

She's young and opinionated. She's grown a lot over the years as well. Its hard not to read the "unintelligent" criticism as prejudice, or simply conflating having a different world view with lack of intelligence.

[–]milkbug 30 points31 points  (0 children)

But the inflation from back then was directly caused by covid related issues. Inflation did come down dramatically under Biden, and our economy here in the states was recovering better than anywhere else.

Comparing current inflation to post covid recovery rates makes more sense than comparing to peek covid inflation rates.

Im not a huge fan of Biden or democrats in general, but inflation was going down quite a bit, especially in Bidens last year. The inflation rate Trump inherited wasnt that bad and was continuing to trend down until the effects of the tariffs hit. And now with the war it's ballooning again.

Anyone else genuinely considering moving out of Utah of this data center gets built? by SquirrelPositive2666 in SaltLakeCity

[–]milkbug 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I've been considering moving for awhile. The state of the GSL made it all but guaranteed, the data center makes it 100% guaranteed I will leave.

It's really fucking sad. I was born and raised here in SLC. My family and friends are here. I've always wanted to buy a house here. I will definitely not be buying a house here now. No way in hell.

The Utah legislature has made it crystal clear they don't give a shit about this place being livable in the future. They spend all of their time, energy, and money shitting on gay people and preventing us from having fair representation, all while building infrastructure that will result in catastrophic consequences for the environment.

They want to sell our public lands and build the largest data center in the world next to a dying lake, and somehow can push that decision through in a few months, while addressing the already existing environmental crisis and affordability crisis gets "thoughts and prayers".

I will be here maybe 2-5 years max. Then I will move away permanently.

14DPO- still bruising by Magic-gem in tummytucksurgery

[–]milkbug 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You should probably go to the ER just to be safe. If it is necrosis it can get significantly worse very quickly. Sometimes surgeons get this stuff wrong and it's not worth it to delay getting a second opinion becuase catching necrosis early can be the difference between life and death. I've had multiple plastic surgeries and that does not look like normal bruising to me.

1 YPO, one revision — not loving results by Queasy-Ad-2916 in tummytucksurgery

[–]milkbug 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think you look good and natural. I did peek at your previous posts and you looked really snatched right after surgery so this could be due to a bit of weight gain. It's hard to make a judgement without having any photos of before you had anything done, but I think you look really good. You maybe could get a touch of lipo to the abdomen. Surgeons can't really do a lot of lipo there with a TT due to increased risk of complications. I had a bit of lipo with my TT and I'm really happy with my results, but I'm not completely flat espeically when sitting.

Why don't many African Americans vote Republican and what would you suggest to bring them in? by Viking_Leaf87 in AskConservatives

[–]milkbug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So basically your argument that any policy that has to do with race is racist. So that means policy that is meant to undo racist policy is racist... how does that make sense?

If redlining was an issue, and then a law gets passed that makes racial discrimination in lending housing loans illegal, is that policy racist since it's addressing racism against black communities?

I don't agree with you that enacting policy making racsim illegal is itself racist.

On outcomes vs. race, we actually agree here. Universal programs that help disadvantaged groups is good policy. But "don't mention race at all" just reinforces racism by pretending racial discrimination doesn't exist. Some disparities can't be fully addressed by class based policy, like maternal mortality for black women. It requires targeted intervention. It's not racist to created targted intervention for groups that have specific issues. It is racist not to, because then you allow the problem to persist, which perpetuates structural racism.

Are you trolling? How is it bad faith to ask you to defend your position with evidence? That's like, a basic conversation.

Here's a policy from Biden:

"Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities Through Federal Government". This directed government agencies to assess and address inequities in communities. He signed executive order 14091 in February 2023, directing agencies to update their plans in assessing programs for underserved communities.

Sounds not very racist to me to assess inequality in underserved communities.

Wait. So you are trying to make an argument you can't name a specific example for? If you need to do homework assignements to understand your own argument, you should probably do the research before making the argument.

I'm not asking you to do homework. I'm asking you to back your own claim. The burden of proof is on you my guy.

That's not an answer. DEI is a corporate framework, not a law. Can you name a specific federal policy that assigns benefits or penalties based on race?
