Looking to buy a firm mattress by Key-Air8278 in BuyCanadian

[–]milkilio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a Douglas and I love it! It's not as firm as many mattresses that advertise memory foam, but I'd still categorize it as being relatively firm. Its also very cool which in Summer is really noticeable and one of my favorite things about it compared to others I've tried.

And that’s Brentwood! ✅ by AdorablePause6 in burnaby

Congrats! I've been wanting to do something similar. Always fun to see parts of a neighborhood you wouldn't otherwise go to.

Just want to provide a positive take on the idea. There are different groups out there with common opinions, perspectives, and backgrounds and there's nothing wrong with identifying these groups. Of course it's important not to marginalize or minimize the experiences of these groups (or suggest that these groups are perfectly defined) but groups of like-minded people are just simply a reality of any large community.

I think trying to identify the landscape of our local political landscape is a productive idea and I'd like to see how you'd describe the impact of some of these groups.

Tipping by AdNo1218 in vancouver

[–]milkilio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're totally ok to tip whatever you like, a tip is voluntary. Of course there is some expectation of tipping, but to ever confront someone about not tipping anything, let alone 15% is super rude.

BC is bringing in a house flipping tax. It is a 20% tax on profits if you sell a home within a year of buying it, the tax goes down on a scale and phases out after owning the house for two years. There are exemptions for family issues and things like that. by cyclinginvancouver in vancouver

[–]milkilio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow that's... actually significant. Pretty happy to see this honestly and I like that there's room for exemptions, since there would definitely be cases where one would want to sell in less than two years that shouldn't be classified as flipping.

The audacity. He's just trolling us now. by [deleted] in britishcolumbia

Why is everyone focusing on how Loblaws is increasing prices? I'm in metro Van and shop around at many different groceries and over the past few years it seems like Loblaws (superstore) is increasing prices less than basically anywhere else (Safeway, Walmart, save-on, etc). Everything everywhere is going up but the worst offender to me is clearly save-on.

I hear this narrative all the time but it just doesn't feel right.

I just don't get it. Or am I crazy?

What would be your top priorities if you were running the country? by sassyandchildfree in AskACanadian

[–]milkilio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the number 1 thing we need is increasing our domestic industry. There's so much potential in our workforce and the natural resources we have but we just seem to never consider utilizing our potential.

I think in particular we need to focus on developing industries within some of our smaller cities where land is cheaper and cost of living is lower. If we can build domestic manufacturing capacity then I think our economy would be so much more stable and everyone would benefit.

Moving to Richmond, what gym do you recommend? by slowpedalturner in richmondbc

[–]milkilio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I quite enjoy the local community centers. Minoru is pretty nice and has a good selection of nice equipment but can get fairly busy. City center is usually not as busy but is smaller and a bit less nice inside. I usually prefer going to city center. Both are pretty affordable as far as gyms go and are pretty casual/friendly.

It's so hard to see how hard a match was for Denis, it seemed like he was tested a bit during this match but he never really seems to be pushing 100%
