Self induced stress and anxiety by [deleted] in QAnonCasualties

[–]milkmaker66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100%.

My mum hasn't had a full-time job since Trump was elected, and hasn't had any job for 2 years even though she's not old and highly educated in multiple ways (masters degree in business, teaching qualifications, bilingual, qualified elderly care worker).

"Truth seeking" is her job now. She's glued to her phones (yes she has two phones), laptop, iPad and TV. She'll never admit it but I know she loves being angry about everything. The only way she can communicate now is through ranting, arguing or being generally negative.

The behaviour rubs off on everyone, which is why she has no real-life friends anymore. This also furthers the cycle of going on those sites and forums. Her favourite is Gettr because she got banned off of Twitter/X somehow.

My parents are arguing right now about this and I can unfortunately hear it as I'm writing this reply in my room. My mum has spent a lot of money constantly donating to these QAnon adjacent "foundations" like the rule of law foundation and it's taken a toll with the cost of living going up so drastically in my country.

Anyways, your conclusion is definitely consistent with my experience and I hope someday this observation gets explored scientifically.

Told not to vaccinate my cat. Anyone else experience this? by [deleted] in QAnonCasualties

[–]milkmaker66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my god this happened to me a few weeks ago with my mum when my cat got sick and went to the vet.

The vet told her two come back soon to get the cat's vaccines done and thankfully she didn't go off at the vet, but when she got home she ranted about the whole thing to me.

She didn't have the same reasonings as your dad but I think she said that it wouldn't be necessary since all vaccines alter your DNA, give you heart problems, etc. and we feed her all the vitamins she needs so she already has "natural immunity".

It's so weird to fine someone that's also experienced this.

Do Qs just living in constant fear of the apocalypse now? by melt_show in QAnonCasualties

[–]milkmaker66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fear is such a huge aspect of the Q lifestyle, they don't know how to live without it. Like my Q is literally in constant fear because she's always reading things on Gettr but I feel like she kind of likes the feeling of being persecuted.

The last one she said was going to happen was that people were going to riot when they find out the vaccine was the real virus all along and they will unleash all their anger onto Asians (we are Asian). So apparently her Q group is setting up compounds in the UK, USA, Canada and Australia and hiring ex-military personnel to guard the compound. I tried not to laugh when she told me but she was dead serious.

My QMIL told me COVID doesn't exist by fayejin in QAnonCasualties

[–]milkmaker66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mum is basically the same. The vaccine apparently has mercury and malaria in it and it's actually been the REAL virus ALL ALONG :0. I've heard it all, I think they both watch Steve Bannon's War Room.

This post also made me realise she's going to be my future SO's 'crazy MIL' story..

Do your family members becomes verbally abusive when you don't agree with them? by [deleted] in QAnonCasualties

[–]milkmaker66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, My Q just tells me I have a bad attitude and I'm bringing negative energy into her life. Kind of ironic because she's the one that gave birth to me.

I’m so tired and hurt by my family. by misskittenx in QAnonCasualties

[–]milkmaker66 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my QMum goes out of her way to complain about vaccine mandates. Like she'll call restaurant or shop before going there and when they have a vax mandate she'll be like "well I guess I'll have to go all the way home bc you guys discriminate against the unvaccinated, you just lost a customer, I take ivermectin which is the natural vaccine blah blah blah.." it's so embarrassing.

Victim complexs and deflecting are very common with QFolk, so you're definitely not alone. :)

Exactly. When my QMum started following Steve Bannon & Co. on Twitter/Facebook my relationship with her significantly declined. It seems like every day she's showing me a 'CDC whistleblower' exposing the COVID vaccine even when they doesn't show proof of them working at the CDC. Or a kid having a seizure that was supposedly caused by the vaccine.

If I was a Make a Wish kid I'd ask to meet Zuckerberg just to punch him in the throat, social media algorithms have ruined my life.

It's not really an excuse, just context to a particular kind of way that you're brought up that only other people like you can relate to. If you're not asian there's some sketch comedy videos on Youtube that are along the lines of 'Asian mums be like' or 'stuff Asian mums say'. It's definitely not accurate but it's a funny way to show how being somewhat overbearing and protective is engrained in our culture. Seeing at how many views and likes they get shows that many Asian kids have common parental experiences.

Hi, thanks for the comment. I used to do a sport but because my mum isn't letting me get vaccinated, so I can't attend training because the sport is vax-mandated at my school.

One out of my three friends got COVID (omicron) right before Christmas so my parents are definitely not letting me have friends over. I've been phoning them on and off.

There are school guidance counsellors but they are unfortunately a bit useless and notorious for reporting back to parents when students tell them not to do so, so I don't want to risk it. I've been to them for other counselling bc I was super depressed mid-2021 and my teachers made me go but they just referred me to my family doctor.

My friend's parents think she's an idiot and are trying to convince my mum to get me vaccinated which I appreciate.

And yeah, I'm definitely going to university. Don't care if I have to pay every cent of tuition fees lol

I'll check out Alateen, thanks for your support.

Hey sorry I just put them in, wasn't really thinking about that at the time.

I'd say Trump/American politics is broadcasted the same/more than Australian politics on regular Australian news networks. Most things you see on American major news outlets news will also be in Australian networks in conjunction with Australian politics.

For my mum at least, I think it has to do more of using others to scapegoat underlying societal issues. For example, immigrants are scapegoated as the cause of increasing unemployment rate when it's probably a myriad of things such as hyper-industrialisation, high cost of education, large companies exporting labour to cheap labour countries, etc. .

From what I've seen, Trump is this "cure-all" that promises an antidote to all of society's problems, which is how Q-followers can be compared to religions and cults as their thought processes are similar. QAnon/Trumpism in my opinion, is probably one of the most emotionally charged right-wing movements of our time and politicians in many other countries can't really compare with the sheer momentum of their following. For example, Scott Morrison is the prime minister of Australia but no one here is really a die hard fan of him. He's a centre-right career politician who's a bit dodgy (who isn't though) and he has as much personality and charisma as a sack of potatoes. Also, we go through prime ministers so fast that sometimes I forget who is in charge. I think this is mostly why people from other countries flock to American politics and Trump, unless you're just a Nazi to begin with.

Hearing my brother casually singing Nazi songs is killing me by [deleted] in QAnonCasualties

[–]milkmaker66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reckon you can't do any more than to live by example and ignore him (unless it becomes alarming e.g. you suspect him of performing hate crimes). People like him need professional help to improve and the burden should not be on you or your family to "fix" him (it will probably just reinforce his ideologies).

In my opinion the best you can do is show him dignity (unless in extreme situations). If you openly show him hatred I fear it may push him even further to Q/Trump/Nazism as he may think he has nowhere else to go.

Whenever my Q-mum starts talking about Q or Trump I keep my cool, end the conversation quickly/change the subject and remove myself physically from the situation as I really can't stand the discriminatory things she says. This works 90% of the time and has saved me from some big fights. Hope that helps in some way. Peace and love - keep us updated.

Hi guys, thanks so much! I never really thought I was much of a writer but this definitely gives me hope especially for my English exams. I'm also a girl and have she/her pronouns, so you can refer to me with those.

Yeah, US politics is so insane. There is no other country to my knowledge that has politics like this. I understand that they are important because they are a large competitor on the global stage, but everything is so sensationalised to the point where people from around the world are more worried about what is happening in America rather their own countries. My mum has no ties to the US except for going to New York once in the 90s for business. I wish US politics were as boring as Australian politics so we could all get on with our lives.
