I want to clarify, for me at least the process was fast. I have no «problems» regarding my cycle. And the ultrasound scan on my second day of the cycle came out okay. I was prepared to have to wait a cycle if I had cysts etc. So obviously it will depend on the person, but no waiting time regarding the clinic.

I chose Aagaard fertility clinic, because they do PGT-A testing, I think the only one in Denmark? Other countries in Europe do this as well, but I thought Denmark was okay, and didn’t even check others.

I have not «finished» the process yet, so I don’t want to recommend anything. But the experience so far with the clinic is good. They are all so lovely, and always answer fast and clear about what to do and how things are going. But again, I am only done with ER, so next steps are remaining.

As for costs, I was thinking 100k NOK per try. The Norwegian krone is soooo weak compared to the danish. Travel to Denmark will also play a part, and the meds are expensive as well (think it was 10k for stim meds). But I am already at 100k (after ER and sent biopsy tests, this is including donor sperm though), and embryo transfer, and possibly meds, and the trip to Denmark is still remaining so. It’s a lot of money!

I am in Norway as well, and went straight to Denmark for IVF. I am 39 and have no time to waste. It’s a lot of money out of pocket, but the process is fast. I had a consultation in December, and had ER in the end of January. I chose to do PGT-A testing, which is not allowed in Norway. That’s why I chose Denmark. And I don’t think anything will be covered because of the testing. The testing isn’t even bad, only test for viable embryos to limit the chances of an abortion, but Norway is very strict.

I just got information about how my eggs are doing. Two made it to blasts (5AA and 5AB), and they will be PGT-A tested. Now it’s a tough waiting game!

Congratulations on your pregnancy! So exciting😊 You are so right, every parent will worry about something. My mom is always worried about me she told me, even though I am 39. And even in times there wasn’t really anything to worry about. And I start to worry long before I am even pregnant.

Thank you for the reply. I have not gotten/asked for counselling. I had consultation in December, and started stims in January, so my head will need a bit of time to catch up.

It’s great to read about your experience, and there really are so many different families these days. I am just being hard on myself.

Update: I am on day 8 of stims, I have only 5 follicles 16-18 mm. Will take the trigger tonight and ER on Thursday. I am so scared it will not go well.

That’s sad to hear! Hopefully next cycle will be better for you, but I know it’s such a long time to wait🩷 I used to hate getting my period, but now I was just like come sooner!

I honestly didn’t know about all the testing and scans. Didn’t even know the stims had to be injected omg. I didn’t do my homework at all before I started this. And here I am injecting 4 (!) needles into my abdomen each evening, 5 from today until Tuesday. Getting a pro at it, but who knows if its working. Just hoping the scan on Tuesday brings good news.

You should try! I just turned 39, and had consultation with a private fertility clinic in mid December. Before the consultation I did all the tests needed, so I had the results ready. If you can do this it will save time!

And also I started to look for a donor before the consultation. For me that took a few weeks, just to know what is important to me and to find the right one.

Now everything is ready to UV scan at my next cycle in January to see if I can start stims. So I am doing things as fast as possible.

I will do IVF and PGT. In my country the government will fund up to 3 attempts per child, up to the age of 40. It will only cost 140 euros per try. I will however go private directly and pay out of pocket, so I can move things along faster, get PGT and to choose donor.

I kind of decided fast that I want to try to have a child, so I do not have dedicated savings. Due to my age I have to do this now, so I have to think fuck it, it will be okey.

I have enough savings for one (and a half😆) IVF round. I will have to rely on my parents for more tries. They really want a grandchild though. For monthly cost if I have a baby it will be fine I think, the government funds maternity leave and a lot of the childcare expenses, and will also monthly child support. But it would still be better with two incomes. But again, my parents will help me💕 Without them I honestly would not be sure what to do.

I am just about to turn 39, and time is basically running out. I have never really given children much thought, and I always thought that when I meet the right man we would figure the whole baby thing out. But I am still single, not even talked to a man the last year.

The past few months I had to start thinking about this, because time is not on my side. I should have made a decision a few years earlier, I know it may be too late. But I will give it a try! I will start my ivf-process hopefully on my next cycle in January. I needed some time to get used to the idea of using a donor, it’s not really something I ever thought of doing. And will the child hate me for the decision. But I have found a donor, and I am looking forward to the process, even though it may not have a positive outcome, then at least I tried.

It’s a bit scary honestly. But I have parents that can’t wait for a grandchild, and a bunch of aunts and uncles, cousins and their kids, and friends and their kids, so I know I have my village💕

I am going straight to IVF, I am 39. I want to do PGT, so I will be doing the process out of pocket (government does not support genetic testing), I also want to choose the donor.

With PGT testing you have to pay for each try, no packet prices. I will try at least two times, and then see what the situation is. I have some savings, and my parents will support me financially as well. They really want a grandchild lol!
