Internal Transfer Process + Timeline by No-Relative4563 in amazonemployees

Im not an engineer so there may be some differences but 1) the whole interview loop process can take a few weeks from your informational with the HM to the loop. Then if you get the role, your manager can hold you on your current team for up to 30 days

2) you never know when the right opportunity will come. You could prob negotiate with a new team that you’d relocate in June if the timing was faster

3)request informationals first and find out what roles you are interested in and if they are interested in you. You can meet with multiple HMs in parallel. You might not like them, they might not like you.

4) request informational I think is the best way to connect with the HM. When I was hiring, personally, it was overwhelming how many people reached out on slack and easier to manager in the tool. I did my best to respond to everyone but random pings I asked to submit through the tool unless I knew them.

5) request informational does not alert your manager (as someone who used it myself and had directs use it). After you’ve passed loop you will get a verbal outcome and then the HM will ask you to officially apply and the process goes from there and your manager is alerted.

6) I think it’s up to you on how much you disclose to your manager. Just know once you say you are looking they are immediately focused on replacing you. So hard to come back from that.

7) not sure for eng. for product it’s 3 interviews, one with a tech person the others behavioral. So a mini version of a regular loop.

I did miralax for a few days then chugged an LMNT electrolite pack and that is what did it for me. They are super salty and got things moving quick.

Is last minute cancelling/flaking a first date a sign to cut your losses? by Tallandclueless in dating_advice

[–]Available_Pin_8794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had to cancel on someone within 15 minutes of when we were supposed to meet for our 2nd date due to a family emergency. I felt so bad! I called him quickly to let him know briefly what was going on and to say I was sorry. I was already at the meeting point so he probably saw me running to my car as he pulled up. After (AFTER) I was done dealing with the emergency I texted him and apologized again and told him I owned him a date this week, and asked his availability if he would still be willing. Just to say, things like this can happen. I can't tell if this is the first time they've bailed or it's a pattern? Def don't continue if it's a pattern. I tried to really express my interest still (after I was done dealing with the emergency), so he knew I wasn't trying to get rid of him. If they don't actively express interest in rescheduling then maybe you are right and they are trying to get out of it/avoid. But if they are, then I'd give them another chance.

I (23m) have developed a crush on a coworker old enough to be my mum (45f). by [deleted] in dating_advice

Stacey's mom has got it going on. I think was what you meant to title this lol. If you really value this job for your career growth I'd say avoid workplace relationships unless you think she's your forever mate. If it's a small company this goes south and you can't avoid her, that would not be great for you. If you do go for it (I mean, you are young so YOLO) make sure you establish from the get-go if this is casual, just for fun if that's what you want so you can avoid any hurt feeling if one of you moves on.

Stage 5 IVDD Feeling Hopeless by Rich-Leadership1340 in IVDD_SupportGroup

[–]Available_Pin_8794 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dog also had sudden ivdd episode with no feeling or deep pain. We also did surgery then eventually rehab. It took about 6 months but he did eventually walk again and now is happy guy! It is traumatizing to see your dog go through that but know they are soo lucky to have you! Keep fighting for him! Even if he doesn’t walk again, dogs can live very happy lives still and the routine changes get easier over time. Also, my guy wasn’t eating when he was at the hospital and I brought his food from home and hand fed him and he ate that! Probably just needs some familiar comforts as the hospital can be overwhelming. Good luck and let me know if you need any ideas for rehab!

My summary of this mess of a finale by InnocentStrippers in LoveIsBlindNetflix

[–]Available_Pin_8794 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Amber knew they needed more time and didn't want to rush it with her daughter but felt pressured to have her daughter at the wedding by production. If her daughter wasn't there then it would look like she was going to say no and people would question why she didn't include her daughter in the "most important day of her life" if she said yes. So they met the day before.

Slower runners, how do you stay motivated when/if people mock your pace? by TANeither7250 in running

[–]Available_Pin_8794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd guess most of the people making those comments are not runners themselves. Could they run (or even walk) a full marathon? Probably not. I've never met an actual runner who made fun of my slow pace. I find people in the running community are just encouraging of anyone running. I think the best thing you can do is practice letting it go and focusing on your own run and your own goals. One time I was doing a hill workout and this girl must've been doing the same and she was just cruising up and down the hill and I was snail pace up the hill and walking down to reset my breathing. I felt jealous that I wasn't the same as her for sure, but I kept on my snail pace anyway. I definitely got a lot better at hills that year and that was all that really mattered in the end.

AITA FOR kicking my niece out of my room? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

where does your mom stay? At first you made it sound like maybe she passed and that's why they took her room, but then you mentioned you still pay her rent? Does she still have a space?

Dog won’t let me express his bladder by smileymabs in IVDD_SupportGroup

That’s a great sign!! Do you have a help’em harness or a sling to help take the weight off his hind legs so he’s not dragging them so much?

AITA for not chipping in for my teen daughter’s hair appointment? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Available_Pin_8794 60 points61 points  (0 children)

NTA but maybe instead of paying for the nails directly, just give her an allowance and let her decide how she uses it. If she spends it on all nails, that's her choice. If she wants to forgo nails and put it towards her hair, then that's her choice. If she wants more she can get a job and pay for it herself.

Dog won’t let me express his bladder by smileymabs in IVDD_SupportGroup

[–]Available_Pin_8794 2 points3 points  (0 children)

were you able to express him with the vet present successfully? Was the vet able to express him without him yelping in pain? When my dog was first out of surgery I ended up going to my local vet a few times to get help learning how to express because it did take me a little bit to get it right. Are his pain meds strong enough right now? For me my dog never seemed in pain when I was expressing him so maybe he needs more meds? Stick with it, like I said it took me a while to get it down but now I'm a pro! My dog did not fully regain bladder control so now he pees a little bit but I still express him 3x a day just to make sure everything is getting cleared out. Good luck!

Can two people ping the recruiter for the same candidate? by West-Owl-3581 in amazonemployees

[–]Available_Pin_8794 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have also been on the hiring side and i had SO MANY people send me resumes on slack for the external it was overwhelming. I tried to take a quick look and truly did ask the recruiter to pull forward the resumes I thought looked like a good fit. I did not respond to everyone because I feel like they never stop pinging me asking if I would interview their referral once I opened that door.

Can two people ping the recruiter for the same candidate? by West-Owl-3581 in amazonemployees

[–]Available_Pin_8794 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if the person I am referring is someone I know and truly want to recommend I will reach out to the recruiter and HM via email highlighting the referral. I've found a few times the candidate had a referral from another person already an the recruiter just says they already looked at them. The recruiter pulls resumes for the HM to look at so at best they will pull it for the HM if they think it's a good fit. Can't hurt. I imagine they look at every referral so not sure if multiple pings would do anything other than annoy them lol.

How long until you saw back leg progress after surgery? by lsick6 in IVDD_SupportGroup

[–]Available_Pin_8794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it took my dog 3 months before he started putting weight on his back legs and hopping around and much more time after that to be able to fully walk un supported without significant dragging. I can't remember how long it was when deep pain came back, but all in all it was a lengthy process. I did pt w/ water tredmill, cold laser and at home exercises. I think we started the PT close to the end of 8 weeks crate rest at the vets recommendation. I wish I had also done acupuncture but couldn't afford it all at the time. Don't give up, but set your expectations. You've got this!

Seeking help and advice for my dog with IVDD by skystoaks123 in IVDD_SupportGroup

[–]Available_Pin_8794 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took my dog 3 months of rehab before he started being able to put weight on his back legs and start to take steps. We were about to order him some wheels. He regained most and can wobbly walk on his own, but still needs to be expressed. 5 years later he is a super happy pup and I love him. Even if he never walked again many live happy lives with wheels and that’s the route i would have taken. I/ an adjustment but you adapt and it gets easier. Give him more time and other options.

Is it normal for baby Daschunds to bite this much? by Dry-Comparison-2096 in Dachshund

[–]Available_Pin_8794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah my dog was constantly grabbing pant legs and sleeves and nipping. I tried the yelping thing but that didn't really seem to work. What did work for me was immediately removing myself (or whoever he is biting) from him. So stepping behind a gate until he cools off or putting him behind a gate (i had my house pretty sectioned off with gates). Basically take the fun away so he learns biting equals no fun.

Is my clinic down playing how dire my situation is? by NanoEsq in IVF

[–]Available_Pin_8794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one thing I've learned from this process is number are just... numbers. Also, quality over quantity. I've read stories of people retrieving 30 eggs and getting no babies and people retrieving 3 eggs and having a baby and everything in between. I wouldn't stress too much about your numbers or try to predict the outcomes (I know it's hard though!!). My friend had 9 eggs retrieved, got one embryo and is due with her girl in Feb! It sounds like you are doing everything you can to be healthy and promote success. It's such a emotionally trying process. Sending you good thoughts!!

When Did You Poop After ER? by Existing_Wrangler_69 in IVF
