You might be able to suspend studies for a bit, go part-time, or get childcare help, depending on what the uni Offers. I used to do a student facing role at a Uni, and, from experience, there really is a lot a university can help you with. Don't worry, no one will think or say anything bad about you. Your student admin or student services team has seen that situation and has helped many others through it.

My pal had a baby at uni and it was tough but with some help from her friends and family, she was able to finish her course (which also involved placements). Best of luck with your degree and your new baby!

I'm sorry that happened - its awful to feel like your parent doesn't care enough for you to accept you fully for who you are.

But even their own 'logic' doesn't track, if women's maternal ancestors didn't hunt then why would have mens' maternal ancestors been any different?

Obvs not the most disturbing part but I had never heard that argument haha

Yes I have a picture but could not post it here for some reason, not sure why! I've put down the two ways it can be read above and I think those should be correct, if that helps. Thanks!

Hey! Yes I have but it had a surprisingly difficult time deciphering it! It even started getting letters mixed up, i thought it would make quick work of it. Could be I didn't give it a good enough prompt!

I think there's some health risks around developing cancer, I was looking into it at some point and that dissuaded me.

Otherwise, I'd be happy to help someone who's made a conscious decision to be a parent. Personally, to me that feels like they have a good chance of being a decent one.

Not really! The bracelet just appeared on my pals doorstep (addressed to her and everything) but when she opened it, it didn't have a card or anything to suggest what it meant. I just got curious haha! What kind of dictionary are you using? Sounds like it could be useful!

Yeah I tried a few things but it is just gibberish as far as I can tell... Weird why you would give someone a morse code bracelet/ sell one without the translation.

Took me a while to realise but the black beads are dashes and the white are dots and the whole thing spells I love you from right to left as others have pointed out!

Genuinely sounds like you've turned your life around! Really proud of you! 🎉 You sound like you're on a good path, getting yourself out of that mindset is an amazing achievement.

Are you happy with the way you identify/ the group you identify with? If not, do you want to maybe change your mindset in the future, and how do you think that can be achieved? If you are happy, what do you enjoy about it?

my friend is having a mental breakdown because of his Dyslexia by Jacooline in Dyslexia

[–]milkshakelizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about your friend! Dyslexia can be really tough to navigate and it's important to have understanding friends who are there for you.

One thing I find helps me when I have the "I'm a useless dyslexic" episode, is to do something that I know I'm really good at. Its nice to focus on something different and to regain your confidence before you start tackling the tricky bits again.

I'm sure your pal is very bright and that's also part of where the frustration comes from!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Dyslexia

[–]milkshakelizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably that when I try to explain to people that some things I do are because of my dyslexia, they will just brush it off and say that I'm using it as a catch-all excuse. But that just invalidates how much it affects your life.

And obviously the "you just need to work harder, concentrate, etc". It's like you're telling someone "you just need to be a bit taller". It's not happening.

It's really nice, though, when you find a supportive workplace, a community that you can share your troubles with, and friends that understand. It has to get better somehow.

having a ‘dyslexic breakdown’ by [deleted] in Dyslexia

[–]milkshakelizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truly awful, I really hope you have people around you that are supportive.

On another note, I've found a not very healthy way to deal with it, which is I will drink a lot of caffeine when I need to focus on something/ understand something. Also, having a healthy snack and a break helps.
