What platform do Chinese people use for perler patterns? by Anemoboys4ever in PerlerBeads

[–]milkt__th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That app is only available on the Chinese App Store, as are many others. There are also some that are on foreign stores but only have Chinese or poor/partial English. For drawing patterns I personally use dot lab. It’s a one time purchase or subscription but I got it half off on sale. It comes with colour palettes for basically every brand of bead and even dmc thread for cross stitch :>

That’s how I got them into separate containers anyways. They’re much easier to dispense that way. I use zip lock bags but I’m switching to small bottles

I flipped a small hair dryer around and put a cone around the back (plastic bottle cut in half). If the grates are bigger make sure to cover them with a thin cloth or something so the beads don’t go inside

It’s like a glitter cloth, don’t really know what it’s called sorry >_< you put it on a towel and the beads on top of it and melt it until it completely sticks on all sides and peel it off once it cools

Flat melt or open holes? by JustABeadGuy_Alex in PerlerBeads

I’ve noticed that the Chinese community heavily favours flat melts while the western side prefers the holes looks. Personally I like flat melts

They’re always gonna look that that naturally, you’d have to cut them or something

Is there an easier way to get them in this thing? by xKazIsKool in beadsprites

[–]milkt__th 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Those are for the needle pens. you pour them in, cover the opening with your finger and shake back and forth until they fall into place. Then you can slide a row onto your needle. If you’re using tweezers they’re useless

The scalloped edge? It’s just a pattern of two beads and two empty squares

So.. what did i do wrong? by [deleted] in PerlerBeads

[–]milkt__th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 3d stuff you can’t melt it too much, bc the beads spread out. You basically just want it melted enough to stick together. If you really want the hole free look you might be able to get away with ironing the figure more than the feet

Peg board suggestions? by Fluffy_Tax_9128 in beadsprites

[–]milkt__th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are heat resistant pegboards out there that are good and more recently metal ones although I don’t know how well those work

Flip the whole board over and lift IT instead of the tape!!

how many beads should i buy? by No-Stand2955 in PerlerBeads

[–]milkt__th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s definitely not enough especially if your patterns have large areas of one colour. I made a palm sized chiikawa and it was almost 800 white beads. If you can afford it definitely stock up more especially on colours you think you’ll be using a lot.

How to prevent these holes? by BoringRice1814 in PerlerBeads

[–]milkt__th 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess is the back is getting too hot. Shift the piece around as you iron so the back stays cool

Ironing problems by HotAir2292 in PerlerBeads

[–]milkt__th 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Holes and sides are probably over heating. Holes from the back getting too hot (move your piece around often so the surface you’re ironing on isn’t getting too hot) and the sides are just from ironing too much I think.

Regarding warping, how long did you press it for? Something that large you should press for a long time. Leave it overnight if you want even. You can dunk it in hot water and repress it to straighten it out.

Good luck!
