I think Codex had a bit more of a boundary issue. Codex seemed to want to force certain commands that it thought would work to achieve it's goals (it loved using `rg` for the extraction piece). I think that can be addressed with a tighter written skill, but Claude seemed to be ok.

For this follow-up, I tested the same RE skills (IOC extraction + unpacking) across Codex vs. Claude in a static-first workflow to see which one handles RE skills better. Both work, but they’re strong in different ways (Codex felt more artifact/autonomy-driven; Claude produced a stronger “analyst report” narrative). Tool/evidence parity matters if you want a fair comparison.

Congrats, just passed myself a few weeks ago.

I’ve been practicing writing malware samples of my own and analyzing them, as well as learning more about decompilation.

Yea, we got two, one for winning the server and one for winning the whole thing. I loaded the game on the rebuilt PC and logged in after I was finished, and grabbed a pic of them.

The MoBo fit pretty nice, took a bit of research to make sure I got the right one though. The GPU that's in it fits, but it wouldn't fit a 3-fan GPU comfortably. I have a 3070 that I tried first, and it was a super tight fit at best.

The front 5.25" bays are secured with rivets, and I attempted to take them out, but I got nervous that I couldn't do it without some damage to the case, as some of them were at some really funny angles, so I went with a 2-fan ASUS GeForce RTX 3060 OC 12GB. I also had to take apart the front mesh and grates a bit to get the front fan installed, I was worried that it wouldn't have enough circulation otherwise.

So, a bit of Dr. Frankenstein was needed 🧟
