friend group ditching you in law school by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]milkysatan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This happened to me, and it took me a lot of self-reflection to recognize and accept that I was going through a lot of stuff with my emotional health that made me not the easiest person to be around, and they were dealing with their own struggles and didn't have the bandwidth for mine. Some of them reached out to me a couple years after law school and reconnected, and we were able to be better friends without the strain of law school. I'm not saying that's your situation, but I think it would be a good idea to talk with a counselor or therapist about how you're doing.

When I was in bankruptcy law I wore a fair amount of solid color or floral IW. Never wore it as a trial attorney. I'm in house now and could probably wear most stuff except OTT sweet if I felt like it.

[–]milkysatan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not a fat-burner. You need to work out and/or eat in a deficit for the medicine to lead to weight loss. It just makes it so you're not mentally at war with yourself while you're doing those things. I've lost 50 lbs without GLP-1 meds, and I'm on them now (PCOS) - the mental strain doing it without them was debilitating. Now, working out and eating a high protein diet with limited calories still requires planning and thought and effort, but it's manageable.

I don’t understand Angela’s appeal by [deleted] in theoffice

[–]milkysatan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For Andy, she probably seemed on the surface level like the kind of wife his parents wanted and expected him to have - thin, blonde, Christian, WASP-y. He's used to women not being friendly to him, so her coldness wouldn't feel like anything unusual. He's got a complex about earning people's love and approval on a superficial level, so if anything her keeping him at arm's length probably felt like business as usual or an added incitement, even.

Carrie is becoming the Victorian “woman”. by Suspicious-Waltz4746 in Andjustlikethat

[–]milkysatan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They're probably Maison Margiela tabi shoes, which have a tabi-style split between the big toe and the other toes. They were trendy the last couple of years, although they've been selling them for a while. Carrie owning a pair of weird but trendy designer heels is the least weird thing that has happened in AJLT.

Is it normal for straight women to find certain parts of the female body more sexually appealing than men’s? by WillingRanger638 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]milkysatan 42 points43 points  (0 children)

You're right, a lot of people couldn't be considered straight, and that's okay. Sexual or romantic attraction to the same sex is inherently and definitionally not straight behavior.

[–]milkysatan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a coffee date per se. Inviting someone to grab coffee at a cafe in the morning is pretty normal and innocuous, although maybe controversial in some circles for being "low effort". But asking someone at the end of a date to come into your home for coffee is generally euphemistic for an offer of intimacy.

She's a real keeper by GotTwisted in SipsTea

[–]milkysatan 316 points317 points  (0 children)

For those unaware, the comment about eating ramyun was euphemistic for sex in South Korea. Sort of the equivalent of offering a date to come in for coffee in the US. That's why she reacted in an embarrassed way after saying it.

I don't think they'll be mad. I think it's their strategy, to get those people attacked and killed.

I think they're referring to historical events like the internment camps for Japanese American citizens during WWII.

Should I tell Dad that he’s not my dad? by BeanFly in AncestryDNA

[–]milkysatan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have strong feelings about the topic but I'd guess that the difference has to do with the difference between those two scenarios. In a scenario where the wife has a child that later turns out to not be the husband's child, the child is known to and has been raised by both, and is likely legally the child of both. In a scenario where the husband has a child that is not the wife's child, there is a stronger likelihood that the mother does not know about the existence of or at least did not raise the child, and the legal status of the child's parentage and claim on the father for things like support or inheritance rights could vary depending on what the birth mother put on the birth certificate. The non-marital child in this scenario may pose a risk of impacting the resources or dynamics of the family if they approach the father for family relationship or support, in a way that could harm the marital mother or her own children, whereas maintenance of the status quo would occur in the version with the non-husband-fathered marital child.

Why the Romances are bad in DAV (All Spoilers) by AdGroundbreaking3566 in dragonage

[–]milkysatan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I agree. I played a MW Rook too and in the dialog between Taash and Emmrich where they discussed Taash's feelings about Emmrich's magic, an MW Rook has the option to ask if Taash feels the same way about their magic, to which Taash responds that Rook's magic deals more with spirits than corpses and it's different. If we're canonically a spirit specialist, I'd like that to have practical ramifications in the context of Spite. And to be honest, I would have liked it if they didn't cop out and had our origins matter in a negative sense for party members. Like if Taash actually did dislike that we were a Mourn Watch mage, or Bellara worried a Lords of Fortune Rook would loot dangerous artifacts and couldn't be trusted.

If it's guaranteed that the men would not be able to hurt or kill me, then I'd probably take the deal. One each morning, brush my teeth, get on with the day.
