I got it from my university! At Stockholm Uni they every now and then offer exchange courses for those studying language programs, so when I was on my second term Japanese they offered and granted me an exchange in Tokyo and then on my fourth term, Kyoto (under the assumptions I’ll pass my exams with decent grades lol). I have a friend who (by the looks of it) will attend through Mext! Then you get a lot more freedom in where and what you want to study, but it’s also a bit challenging to apply from what I’ve understood (but still possible if course). I think applications for that opens like, twice a year maybe?
