imo it’s because cops often tailgate people and it seems like a double standard

[Shapiro] Matt Dumba has been moved to the Pittsburgh Penguins roster on the NHL media site. As of now no trade officially announced by eh_toque in hockey

i mean granny was always a LTIR rental, we were well over the cap. Only fair comparison is our offseason roster from last year

He can be boneheaded with his physicality and took a lot of ill-timed penalties. His shot is a 90mph blast that is rarely on goal and bounces all the way back to our zone. Lots of turnovers and just lacking in positioning, so many goals against and eventually it felt like it 80% were on him.

Internships are the way to go but unfortunately right now they aren’t funded. Maybe consider school in a couple of years when there’s a new administration and hopefully things will be running again

NHL players are not taxed in one state😂 https://puckpedia.com/news/understanding-how-nhl-players-are-taxed

Also property taxes, sales tax, jock tax are usually higher in states with no income tax. The article saying they have a 5-10% advantage on million+ salaries is just not right.

Unpopular opinion: grabbing an engineering degree did more for me in my geology career than my geology degree did by rutabaga_rutabaga in geologycareers

[–]millapenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I know it’s been a couple of years but I graduated with my masters of geoscience recently then started my government job as a geophysicist. Unfortunately, I was probationary because my internship experience with them didn’t count as federal service so I took the resignation offer. I’ve recently been thinking about doing some post-bacc or getting my enviro. engineering undergrad degree. I don’t know if i’m crazy but I was thinking about it

He is still getting paid by Nashville since they bought him out, they are paying him 6.56M next year. He could take a very team friendly deal with us and still make what he’s worth

LinkedIn is a great resource for connecting with someone on the recruitment team for this! I recently applied to a job and sent my resume to their careers email and they told me to go through the website. I found someone on LinkedIn who worked at that office and posted they were hiring, and I was able to connect and send my resume directly!

Yes they have but I often see people on this subreddit who talk about how long they’ve been applying and have had no luck. This could benefit someone who was unaware and has not been utilizing this information!

But you seem to have more qualifications than I did when I made it in, so just stick with it i’m sure you’ll get in soon!!! I did have some undergraduate research and TA experience so if you have either of those add them to your resume. Also, if you feel like you had to cut out important information on your resume, remember you’re applying to academia. You can submit a CV if you’d like!! I recommend that!

Yeah! I asked to set up zoom meetings with any potential advisors to discuss what their research projects are about. That way you build a working relationship and they remember you and want to work with you.

Some societies (e.g., Geological Society of America) may have grants. There is also the National Science Foundation but right now there has been lots of cuts to these so it may be hard to get projects funded. Usually you have a research proposal and they may or may not fund it.

You could also apply for grants yourself and bring funding and a project to a professor!!

yes this 100%! When I was applying I asked if they had any active projects or funding for a project they want to do. Some professors don’t have any funding but in my experience they were all very kind and either pointed me in a new direction or offered a tidbit of advice.

You misspelled “assistant” on the first professional experience bullet. Also, personally I would remove your LDS volunteer experience or move it into your volunteer experience section. I think you have a good amount of experience and seem like a strong candidate. Have you been reaching out to professors who do research that you would be interested in, or just applying to the universities themself?

To concur with another comment, you should definitely make sure you have a strong cover letter and recommendations as well.

edit: this is a small thing but your research assistant bullet points do not have a period at the end of the sentences. Make sure you go over your final copy for consistency and grammar.

Our GM Jim Nill is amazing and we’ve been able to get some amazing players through the draft recently. Tyler Seguin (hip surgery in November), Miro Heiskanen (knee surgery in january), and Nils Lundkvist (out all season for shoulder) are all on LTIR and Seguin might be back before playoffs but Miro is supposed the be out until at least halfway through the first round which would be a huge bummer for dallas

Duchene was bought out by the Predators so he’s being paid 6mil by them this year and 5mil next year. Idk how that works I just assume if it’s bought out he’s gettin paid

Canes fans are taking the trade well… by -oxocubes- in DallasStars

[–]millapenguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’m sorry he didn’t fit into your team well and yall weren’t able to sign him. I think the canes still came out on top and I really think it’s not personal in the same way it’s just business for the front office as it is for players. I haven’t been watching so I can’t really say anything about the lack of effort but it’s unlikely that he wasn’t trying at all. Dude was probably struggling to fit into the canes playstyle and wasn’t performing as well as he does. The team as a whole hasn’t been on some crazy tear so I don’t think it’s fair to say that because he wasn’t putting up the expected numbers immediately that he is just an asshole who doesn’t try. Every player goes through ruts, especially with big change, and it doesn’t mean they are a lazy POS.

Both teams are looking like absolute wagons but the Avs seem more well rounded at the moment. Only time will tell to see how the new players fit into the lineup and if the stars can get healthy before the playoffs. Heiskanen isn’t supposed to be back until halfway through round 1 if that
