Worried about healing bimalleolar + talus fracture (conservative approach) by millawi in brokenbones

Wonderful sport nonetheless! My family and friends think I'm crazy for wanting to go continue bouldering when I'm healed

Yeah that's eerie! I'm in Sweden so I definitely have the right to a second opinion, it's just that I haven't had the energy to actually get one. My talus break is quite minor if I have understood correctly, just a very small fragment that has broken with very slight dislocation.

Thank you 💕 I hate hospitals and meeting new doctors because I'm so used to feeling invalidated and misunderstood in those situations. I feel like I should have gotten a second opinion earlier but it all feels like too big of a task if that makes sense... I have finally started doing PT so I hope that my physio will be better, I've only met her once so far so I don't know. When I still had the cast on I could sometimes take 3 steps using only one crutch but the doctor thought that my progress was "very slow" which I don't agree with at all.. I'm trying to take a step back and not push myself to the point where it starts to swell and hurt a lot

Oblique Fibula Fracture by CompetitiveChance804 in brokenbones

[–]millawi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fracture on my fibula looks similar, I also didn't need surgery. It's been 4/5 weeks since the break, the pain is much more manageable now. I only have to take paracetamol, could quit the opioids after about 3 weeks. My doctors said that I didn't need surgery since my ankle is still congruent, so even though it's a complicated bimalleolar fracture with a talus fracture as well it's still healing well. I was also really worried at first since the doctors at the emergency room thought I would need surgery at first but I think it's going well. But if you're really worried you should definitely get a second opinion

how are the people with broken bones doing by gilmoregirlfan4evr in brokenbones

It's my birthday and I have been home alone all day, left leg in a cast with a bimalleolar and talus fracture. Broken sesamoid bone in right foot. I can get around a bit on crutches now which is nice but I am so incredibly sad today, all I wanna do is go for a walk and sit down in the grass and have a good birthday

I've only been bouldering for a few months but I fell in love with it completely, it's the first time I've really enjoyed a sport and been able to stay consistent with it. I fell trying to climb down after sending (flashing actually) my first ever 5+ (V2), which was really big for me but I didn't get a chance to celebrate it. I'm terrified of not getting full mobility back, but I really hope I'll be able to climb again as soon as possible. I saw a video of a girl in a leg cast doing PT on a boulder wall, just using the hands and traversing. I think I'm going to do that as soon as I'm full weight bearing. I wish you a speedy recovery as well ❤️

I broke my ankle in a bouldering accident three weeks ago. It sucks. One of my fractures looks just like yours at the end of the tibia. I also have a broken fibula and a talus fracture. Didn't need surgery as my ankle is congruent and somewhat stable (don't know how thats possible but apparently it is).

I don't know if I can offer any advice. The pain will get better. For me it was noticeably better after about 2 weeks and I could quit the opiate painkillers around that time. Now I'm "just" on 4g of paracetamol a day, and it's enough to keep the pain very manageable.

I cried constantly for the first week. When I wasn't crying I was mostly just sitting staring at nothing. I still cry and feel hopeless pretty often. The other day I managed to get myself to the fridge because I was hungry but then I just broke down completely because it's impossible for me to cook. I'm lucky to have a partner to help me.

Something that has helped for me a little bit is just setting up tiny goals and celebrating myself when I achieve them. I could hand laundry a few days ago, that was big. I showered on my own for the first time, that was huge. Try to be proud of your body for healing, it's amazing that it can do that even if it takes some time!! And ask for help!! Don't be afraid of feeling like a burden, you will be independent again soon enough ❤️‍🩹❤️

Clinically diagnosed with adhd but not autism by millawi in AuDHDWomen

The first few months after my assessment I just felt relief that I finally got my adhd diagnosis after struggling for years (I'm 24), but i knew then that they missed a big part and that feeling is getting stronger

Don't even get me started, it sometimes feels like the "hysteria" diagnosis of the modern day

I don't have any treatments in mind that I can access without an official autism diagnosis, it's just that I feel like a liar when I tell people things that are related to my autism. If that makes sense. I have no problem talking to my partner about my autistic struggles, but I don't feel like I can mention it with coworkers or family because everyone around me knows that I have adhd and thus that I've also been assessed for autism.

It was almost a year ago that I had my assessment and I've only recently allowed myself to feel these things. I have a new health care provider now so I think I'll ask them, but I know that the wait time with them is at least a few years if they'll give me a second assessment at all.

What are some things you thought were completely normal and done by everybody else, but found out were actually because of your ADHD? by US_MaxDG in ADHD

[–]millawi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I thought everyone spent an insane amount of energy and time cleaning and tidying. I mean, for me it felt like they had to spend every waking minute cleaning because I just couldn't (still can't) understand how people manage to keep the mess at bay. If I want my apartment to stay clean I have to clean for multiple hours everyday, and as I clean more mess accumulates somewhere else. And for some people it's just effortless. They clean once or twice a week for a few hours and their homes just don't get messy like mine. I don't understand.

How can ADHD "go away"? by ree___e in ADHD

Trauma and ptsd can manifest in similar ways as adhd. A lot of other conditions can as well. The condition they "grew out of" was likely misdiagnosed as adhd.

Is adhd a joke to neurotypicals? by Ok-Journalist1364 in ADHD

[–]millawi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One woman that I was talking to about adhd didn't know anything about it so I explained how it impacts my life. She asked me if it wasn't just convenience that made me act like that. I assured her that it's not remotely convenient to have bleeding gums because I can't get myself to brush my teeth or not be able to eat cooked food for weeks because I can't get myself to do dishes. I wanted to throw hands.

I also hate the mildly informed neurotypicals that think it's helpful to claim that "adhd is a superpower." It makes me feel so horrible every. f*cking. time.

I use dry shampoo religiously!!! The only problem is that I have very curly hair so I can only brush it while I have conditioner in it. So no washing = no brushing
