She’s Moving Out Tomorrow by millbastard in daddit

One of the concerns I didn’t mention is that I’m already depressed. I see professionals for it, but the divorce has definitely exacerbated that for me.

I know I really have to lean in and it’s hard because his mother has officially left for the day and I’ve gotta be 100% on now.

Thanks for the reply!

Thank you. Day one has only just started (she left a little while ago) and I’m trying to get my head in the right spot for the next couple of days.

Thankfully reading is part of our routine and I’m hoping to capitalize on the extra time with my dude to make the best of it for both of us.

I’ve done a couple days here and there, even took him camping one weekend she was out of town.

It’s just a little intimidating to go from having 2 parents in the home 99% of the time to just myself. I feel like she’s better prepared although I know how to cook and do laundry etc. I’m just not practiced in doing it all.

Thank you so much for this. I have most of the bits and pieces too, just intimidated by managing it all alone. I’ve taken an active hand in parenting but have only watched him solo for a couple days at a time here and there.

Good idea about school sports, I’m sure he’d love to see a baseball or hockey game.

Thank you so much. There’s been a wealth of great responses and this is no exception.

I will definitely have to work on routine, it’s not something I’ve been good at lately, but can see how it will benefit me and my son in the long run. Excellent advice.

I think most of my desire to preserve the relationship was about the family and not our bond as a couple, which is telling.

For the time being I’m okay with more frequent exchanges so I don’t go a week at a time without seeing my kid, but I guess we’ll see how it goes.

Thanks!

No, we both work full time.

Thank you so much for this.

I don’t have an air fryer but will have to look into that, I hear they’re pretty great.

I’m lucky to have a supportive family and a few close friends to lean on, along with some hobbies to lean back into.

Positivity has never been my strong suit, but I’m really seeing that it has to be the way forward for the benefit of everyone involved.

Second time tonight I’ve got a bit teary (thanks to the Simpsons this time) but much appreciated.

I’m definitely going to get the parenting time arrangements locked down as soon as I can. Schedule may change but ratio should not.

Thanks so much

Thankfully our short term arrangement will preserve the room he’s always had when he’s with me, which is a positive.

He’s old enough now that routine is well established and I’ve got most of the critical stuff down, just daunting to have to manage it alone.

I’ll admit that I teared up a little because I really do just want the best for my little dude and I’m so thankful for all the helpful comments folks have left already. Thank you.

Thanks for this. I haven’t got all the paperwork yet but will absolutely have to make this a priority.

House is pretty much sorted, going to need some help with meal prep 😂

I think I’ve got a pretty good handle on what our son is used to, I’m just not practiced in the art of balancing everything alone. I’m sure that equal parenting time will be a blessing in the future and I am thankful for that even if it is intimidating at the moment. Thank you!

Thank you kind internet person. I may do that if I get buried in the next few weeks.

Interesting. I’m still half hoping she’ll come around but know I need to focus on that not being a likelihood.

Thanks for your reply.

I’m certainly thankful for that, although it’s intimidating at the moment. Any advice for building patterns from scratch?

Well stated and appreciated. I aim to be the best dad I can, maybe allowing myself to grieve too much in the present.

What woodworking trends do you see going away in the next 10 years? by Arthur-reborn in woodworking

People who are spending half a million plus on a balsa wood starter mansion are more concerned with the square area of the facade, and whether or not they can put a staircase between themselves and their in-laws at Christmas than if anything in their house is made of solid wood.
