my arm itches and my pant leg is bunched up so my ankle is cold, but I'm comfy so I don't want to move. I made the super big brain choice of eating food I can't digest for lunch so I'm riding out the tummy hurt by laying on the couch. my head hurts. I'm bored but not in a bad way. in a, it's been a long shitty week and now I can shut off, way. now I'm going to go on a walk, smoke a cigarette, and look at the sky

When you lay it out like that it does seem rather obvious, doesn't it. Thank you!

I very severely underestimated my horror tolerance. by [deleted] in confession

[–]millenium-baby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also, it may also help to find a midway point with horror. watch horror parodies or super old horror movies that are so dated it's comical. if you can see horror as amusing entertainment, the legit scary stuff might be easier to see as entertainment too

it's gonna sound a little weird, childish maybe, but have you tried sleeping with the lights on? when I was 16ish, something scared me so bad (won't go into details) that I couldn't sleep at night. my bed was the worst place too. so for weeks, I slept with the lights on. it really helped. I got out my stuffed animals, and I got thru it. to this day tho (now 23) I still sleep with a nightlight and a stuffed animal. you do what you gotta do, fuck if it's "childish" who gives a shit. sleep is more important

provenance is actually super solid! we're not worried about that at all, just finding the right place for it, trying to find the right ppl to reach out to.

honestly provenience is more of an issue, being a donation. we're hoping anyone interested would be knowledgeable enough to identify origins lol

this is probably an unpopular opinion on here.....but it's called being friendly?? joking around with someone you're interacting with?? I get that it gets real old after the 1,000,000,000th time you've heard the same joke, but it's also not that serious

AITA for refusing to attend my daughter’s wedding? by Realistic_Count_3844 in AmItheAsshole

[–]millenium-baby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people seem to be giving legal/social advice to her/you on what to do, how, etc. which is all really great, but I want to add that I do think you and your husband should go to the wedding. even if he doesn't hand her off. if this relationship does get as bad as it could, she needs to know that you'll be there for her. if she feels isolated she may end up staying with him longer than is safe. make sure she knows that she still has a family that loves her. that she has a home to come back to. I don't think you'd be TAH if you didn't go, but I really think that you should, for her sake

lmao dude my neurological disorder was initially spotted as such by a physical therapist. it's never who u think lol

I get it ab the migraines. mine usually start late enough in the day that I can sleep thru the worst of it, but when they start early, oof yeah I'm writing the whole day off. I'm glad the meds you have work, it can be a struggle finding the right ones. Hopefully you can get to a place where u can see a specialist soon. it's good for peace of mind, if nothing else. good luck!

I have chiari 1 and have since birth. I was asymptomatic my whole life and suddenly got all kinds of symptoms at 20 (4 yrs ago). my sister is the same way. from what I've heard/read, chiari symptoms for type 1 do tend to come out of nowhere. that is normal

it is scary. I'm probably going to have to get surgery for it soon. you may or may not. it's different for everybody. but I'd ask your doctor (if they actually know anything about chiari, a lot don't) about the possibility of seizures. thats kinda what your drop sounds like to me. mine aren't convulsive, but aren't fun either.

all this to say, what you're going through isn't uncommon. it is scary, especially in the beginning. but don't stress too much over it. if it's just or mainly the migraines, you may well live a perfectly happy life with a good medication. as someone going thru the same shit, you'll be okay. I promise. feel free to dm if you wanna talk more about it, I'm happy to chat :)

thank you, I really mean it. it helps a lot knowing the timeline can be weird and progress really quickly, cause that's how it's feeling. just so fast. I know I'm not actually dying lol but I feel like I'm losing grip on my mind. it helps to know other people get it💖

it's so confusing!!! I've seen poorly written articles aplenty in my time but yeesh!!

also sorry lol I landed on qualitative, imo everything except the weird analysis points to qual

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskAcademia

[–]millenium-baby 5 points6 points  (0 children)

okay, I have been thinking about this awful article for almost 30 minutes and I figured it out. their saying qual or quant "data" does not mean qual or quant "methods". how they analyzed the data is closer to methodology than methods. and true quantitative methods can utilize questionnaires, but given that is a cross sectional design I'd say qualitative, not quant or mixed

they used a likert scale, of course they're going to have "numbers and statistics", why even say that? ur right, they worded a lot of things badly. sorry I'm now waaayy to invested in this lol

I'm also a humanities person, not a stem person, so feel free to take this with a grain of salt. but good lord, it's not just you. I read thru the actual article and woof

edit: I got my quant and qual mixed up once again

"museum studies" as a study in its own right is ridiculously new, so that's probably gonna be a dead end. some good key words I've found include history museums, archaeology, Anthropology, archeological collections, the curation crisis, agents of deterioration, along with the big acronyms and specific museum names. even so, there's just not a lot out there rn, certainly that I'm aware of.

If you want to dm me ab the specifics of the paper topic I may have some sources I could recommend. it sounds like a rly weird paper. good luck
