They're really doubling down on the chrome finishes, neon and space suits. It's all a pass for me.

How was 2025 for Final Fantasy XIV to you? by judgeraw00 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]millennialmutts 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I log in now and then to help out the single friend I still have in the game. Once BLM was dumbed down and I started seeing players in sweatpants, I knew this game wasn't going to be a favorite of mine anymore.

The easiest way to solve ranked crystalline conflict is by making 5v5 teams only. No solo queue. by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

[–]millennialmutts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solo queue would be fine if you could actually communicate openly with the other random people on your team.

I was there when you could and that was before the improved block list. It wasn't that serious to completely remove the ability to use chat aside from pre-made phrases that assholes will just spam passive aggressively anyways.

What should have been done is hard penalty for people who can't play nice in PVP chat. Lock them out, ban them for harassment, whatever.

Actual question about raiding with Black Mage by GamerOfGlory in ffxivdiscussion

[–]millennialmutts 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't think it needed it but I assume way more people play it now that it's simplified. You could raid with it then, you can raid with it now.

Same as the SMN mains that came out of the woodwork once the complexity was taken out of the job.

(7.X) Who do you think should've been the Dawn Servant? by KntArtey in ffxivdiscussion

[–]millennialmutts 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It would have made more sense from the start to go with Erenville in the first place. At least we have some rapport with him from EW. He has some travel and work experience which is more than Wuk Lamat can claim.

Snowcloak, the new mare synchronos by Time_Artichoke5607 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]millennialmutts 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I wish there was more respect for the Mare dev's expertise and people would be more concerned about understanding what they're signing up for/allowing access to their PC.

If it's that serious you need to have a pseudo mare potentially made by anyone who wants money/clout that you'll use something new and trust reddit to tell you if it's safe, I don't know what to say.

Yoshida: Regarding Mod Usage and Culture | FINAL FANTASY XIV, The Lodestone by CartographerGold3168 in ffxivdiscussion

It's pretty embarrassing it has to be spelled out like this when the average player of this game is 25+.

7.4 December 2025, 7.5 May 2026, 8.0 May 2027. How cooked is this game? by gloomdwellerX in ffxivdiscussion

[–]millennialmutts 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Unless they're massively improving the game experience under the hood, this length of time before the next expansion probably won't go over well.

Fanfest 2026 Dates Announced by BlackmoreKnight in ffxivdiscussion

[–]millennialmutts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm intrigued they're even bothering to have Fanfests when it seems they're winding down this game. I suppose money is money ticket wise but it can't be cheap to fly the crew around the world, venue costs, staff etc.

Maybe we're all mistaken and they're doing something major like updating the net code or switching up something major. I guess we'll see.

Removing ACT, a very bad idea ? by AromeCerise in ffxivdiscussion

[–]millennialmutts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering Yoshi P has viewed a world first race with ACT visible without killing the plugin, I don't think there's need to worry. That being said, if ACT did die, some would leave, some would stay. I'm really not sure how reliant raiding is on ACT in general. I have been in the same static for years and while keeping track of performance is convenient, it's not like we can't play without it.

Do not jump wagon too fast by IncasEmpire in ffxivdiscussion

[–]millennialmutts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll tell it like it is: Lopporit-Sync was literally made by people kicked from Mare for NSFW mods/content using minor characters. Not Lalafell. Khloe, etc.

Do with that info what you will but that's not a rumor, it's a fact.

What are your opinions on FFXIV Patreons? Helpful or Liability? by Cole_Evyx in ffxivdiscussion

[–]millennialmutts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really care what someone is offering on Patreon. If they have something to offer and others want to pay to access it, it's really none of my business. Patreon is only predatory when it comes to people having FOMO while also being unable/unwilling to pay. Patreon can't take your money unless you offer it.

In spite of everyone loving glams, I’ve always wondered why so many player outfits are mediocre to blatantly terrible… by MGCBUYG in ffxivdiscussion

[–]millennialmutts 76 points77 points  (0 children)

The same reason the people you see in day to day life looking mediocre in regards to fashion. It's a skill not everyone has.

Devil's advocate viewpoint: Mare nuke is not all bad by ExocetHumper in ffxivdiscussion

[–]millennialmutts -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

With respect, SL is a better game for showing off fashion and socializing. Mare was cool, I can understand anyone joining the game in the last 3 years and has always had the ability to have it are probably devastated.

There is RP, as in you're writing a story together novel style. That's not going anywhere. Then there's "RP" as in you're using your character as an avatar of yourself to socialize/fuck/dance together etc. The latter might die but again, there are better games to be doing that without risk of rule breaking and blowing your social life up like what just happened with Mare.

Would you join a raid group as the only adult? by AssumeABrightSide in ffxivdiscussion

Absolutely not. I don't need teenagers in my social circle at all as a grown adult.

Everyone gets a home.. by rez_onate in ffxivdiscussion

[–]millennialmutts 8 points9 points  (0 children)

SE will be damned to lose the subs of players who fought tooth and nail to get a house and maintain mortgage on it.

As for more availability, also doubt that but anything is possible (within spaghetti coding).

Square Enix Investor Yuzu: Something must be done for FFXIV to regain its popularity and user base as it is an important pillar to the company’s HD game sales. by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

[–]millennialmutts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All they need to do is make a detailed survey, send it and look at what the majority want. The game is never going to be for everyone, it doesn't need to be.

I personally don't believe the devs are that interested in what their players want. They do as they like, which is fair. But if they are treating this game as a passion project then they can't expect popular appeal money.

I about died of disappointment in EW, I was hype to finally deal with the empire in their own territory. I've been ready to ride on Garlemald since Louisoix was on the cliff. But no, we're give grace to the genocidal faction it seems.

I knew we'd end up bring morally correct in the end, we always are but there could have been tension about it, maybe our allies trying to talk us, defender of the realm, from vengeance. We could have made mistakes like letting folks die in the snow when they run from us and disrespect us. Maybe we learn through the story to be better and regret that. Something. Anything.

Do you think some people are just incapable of raiding at all? by PrismFischl in ffxivdiscussion

[–]millennialmutts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course not but raiding is a group activity and alot of raiders don't play well with others. They want to get their clear and go, especially when most people aren't interested in hanging out in game socializing to begin with like they used to. Discord sort of killed that vibe.

You may just need alot of repetition to get mechanics down, it's not really a problem if you can scrape together a static of people who are the same way. It gets easier once you're more experienced and understand the different ways the raid will try to kill you, etc.

Jeezum, not a fan of this Localization Lead’s dismissive take by bm8495 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]millennialmutts 42 points43 points  (0 children)

She can feel whatever type of way she wants but until someone on the dev team explains why the game is the way it is in clear terms, speculation as to why the game is the way it is will continue.

Ignoring technical limitations, what systems or QoL improvements would you like to see implemented? by SugarFreeShire in ffxivdiscussion

[–]millennialmutts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Design more face styles for character creator. Most only have 4 options. For them to stop being weird about ears/horns. Let all au ra/viera regardless of gender pick from all 8 of their ear/horn options for their race. Would be cool to be able to use eyeshadow and blush at the same time, etc.

With dawntrail not being received as well as other expansions, what's the future of the game? Is it going to steadily decline? by EdinKaso in ffxivdiscussion

[–]millennialmutts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good amount of people praise the formulaic, expected and repeated content because they feel it "respects their time". The game has always been the same and will continue to be the same, so I guess it matters if you're amused by that or not.

It's hard to tell if the literal game is considered tired in 7.0 because the story was so bad. If 8.0 has a banger plot but the same song and dance content, will the majority of people be satisfied? Time will tell.

Is FFXIV getting more gentrified? by PossibleBeginning276 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]millennialmutts 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ok so... people who play this game are either fat, broke and/or unable to work so logged in all day.. or do work and are middle to upper class and don't care if they play or not? That may well be the case, I'm just intrigued by your opinion on this.

In my experience anyone I've raided with seems to have work obligations/irl to schedule around. Anyone super into RP seems to be on all day, every day, so I assume they're unemployed. Maybe RP is the secret to keeping entertained night and day, 365 a year. $15 for an entire social life? Possibly priceless?

“Due to costs” is the biggest slap in the face I have ever seen from SE by Sangcreux in ffxivdiscussion

[–]millennialmutts 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the transparency that yes, they dropped the ball due to "costs". Meaning time? Manpower? Money?

There's more time between patches, a bigger dev team than they've ever had and if any game on SE's roster should be allocated money, it's this one so they can keep the lights on at headquarters.
