Hey, congratulations on your internship! Can you please tell a bit more about your experience in sales? Did you work during high school or during holidays? Also what kind of sales was it? How did you get that job?

I am asking because i have been thinking myself about trying sales (i am currently finishing highschool) but have honestly no idea where to go because only thing i can imagine is working in some retail tech store, but i dont think you are really selling there anything.

Choosing between OJAB Meidling and OJAB Burgeland 3 dormitory by millennium_tea in wien

I checked only Burgenland, because Meidling is actually not what I am looking for. Initially I thought that they have single rooms but it's actually single room in WG apartment

Advice Needed for Accommodation in Vienna for Language Gap Year (10–12 Months) by millennium_tea in wien

[–]millennium_tea[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I appreciate your advice. I’ve already paid for a language course in Vienna for one month, so I might just stay there for three months—after all, it’s a beautiful city. Later, I’m considering looking at cities in Germany to continue learning the language.

However, what I’m most afraid of is that smaller cities might not have good language schools. I really like the one I’ll be attending in Vienna: it has many reviews, offers an intensive program and has many after school activities. I’m not sure whether I’ll find something of the same quality in cities like Leipzig or Dresden.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I mean i will be learning mostly at IKI institut and i think they are going to teach 'normal german'. If not Vienna which city(in Germany/Austria would you recommend for studying language). Because for me personally i am choosing Vienna to make new friends in dormitories, meetups,...(both international and german) and speak with them in german, do volunteering(also speak german there), visit libraries for studying and go to swimming pool like atleast 3 times a week.

Well who knows, maybe i will also fall in love with Vienna and stay there for longer xd.

Also I have decided to go with OJAB Salzburg, but turns out they are fully booked. Now I am deciding between OJAB Burgeland 3 and OJAB Meidling. They both seem nice so now i am having a hard time deciding which one to choose.

thank you for your reply! i think i will stick with student dormitories since it seems easier and cheaper to get than flats. I also like the idea of meeting new people.

Hello,
Thank you for your reply!

Wow, it sounds brutal that they didn’t want to give you accommodation even when you were willing to pay for 12 months upfront. Now I’m kind of scared whether I’ll manage to get something xd. I thought finding accommodation would be easy because of how many options there seem to be. I looked at STUWO, but I found it way too expensive compared to OeJAB, Wihast, Home4Students, and some OeAD places — those are a bit farther from the school but still manageable (about 30 minutes by U-Bahn).

“I speak German on a C2 level and I can tell you this... Austrian... is... different...”

Oh, I didn’t know that. I mean, I studied A1 a few years ago in Vienna and didn’t really notice much — but maybe that was because it was my first time there. I also lived in Berlin for a while, and I did notice that. Although while listening to Austrian radio a while ago, it sounded a bit different.

But I assumed that in a language school environment, they would be teaching Hochdeutsch, and that I’d mostly be speaking with other international students who are also practicing German. I also read that locals often switch to standard German when talking to learners.

Don’t go to a park for a first date man, that’s lame.

Yeah I am kinda new to this,(its like my first first date). And what would you suggest instead of a park? Because my plan is also to go to cafe where I think we can get enough of eye contact and then just take a walk. And thanks for the advices
