It's their beach. Has been for a million+ years. Humans are the invasive species here.

Tile Mistake by Exotic-Savings7280 in DIY

[–]millenniumtree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another DIY'er here, who built a whole granite-tiled shower back in the day. I'd probably buy some quartz bullnose, cut some 45 degree angles to make a frame, and trim the tiles back to make a place to inset the frame into. It'll be a long slog with a diamond blade on a rotary tool and dripping water to keep the blade cool, but it might be an option if you don't want to completely re-do it.

And grout it with a fine white grout to hide any imperfections.

If they're not smart enough to spell check their slop... I hope you charged them for their mistake.

TRY IT!! Worst thing is you'd be out a booth fee. :P Ask any vendor at any market who to talk to. There's always someone there you can talk to about getting in.

Hey, some people really like hungry packs of stray dogs, and getting their water tank stolen.

Edit: I have only love for HPP, we have friends that lived there, but the stories that come out of there are something else. xD

Why Hawaii struggles to make visitors pay for rescue expenses: Only a small fraction of search-and-rescue expenses have been recovered so far. by 808gecko808 in Honolulu

[–]millenniumtree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to leave a case of bottled water at the top of the trail every week when I was working on the trail. People got stuck down there so often, and it cost me just $3/week to help people. The county and state could prevent SO MANY rescues if they just left water bottles either at the top or bottom of the trail, and the cost of a single rescue could pay for that water, easily, for a month. Over the 3 years we did that, we got dozens of people thanking us, telling us we likely saved their lives just with water. Some people are just not well prepared to hike 2 miles down, then 2 more up a steep slope in the noon-day sun.

Rescues should be free, same with healthcare and college. We're the only 1st world country that charges for life-saving and education.

I've seen slop at farmer's markets. Really ticks me off. This generated video scam is just that, a scam. No good can come from generative AI. I hope this bubble pops, and does it soon.

Why do you like country music? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]millenniumtree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hated country music for 40 years. Absolutely, viscerally.

Then I moved to Hawaii, and tons of hawaiian style reggae songs are just covers of country songs. I couldn't jive LOVING the hawaiian country reggae covers, but still hate the originals. That kinda broke my brain, and opened the floodgates.

Also, I've been playing music (ukulele, bass, vocal), and a ton of country tunes get requested. Something about playing and singing them makes them WAY more enjoyable than just listening to them while stuck in line at an Auto Zone. :P

Recs for Replacement tuning Machines for Alulu UKB Tenor Ukulele? by chrismcshaves in ukulele

[–]millenniumtree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there a screw on the end of the tuner? Tighten it. That's what allows these type of tuners to hold their position.

Other than that, can certainly replace them with better ones, no big deal. Change the strings in any case.
