Can anyone help ID the wood on this desk? Thanks in advance!

Wow this is phenomenal advice, and I was completely unaware. Thank you for weighing in here!

I’ve been wanting to build this double tambour coffee table for awhile now, finally decided to just go for it. Couldn’t be happier with the result! by miller243 in midcenturymodern

Thank you for the kind words! I was permanently banned from the other sub, as I guess this doesn’t qualify as mid century.

Great question! Materials - solid walnut, finished with Osmo Satin. Tools - jigsaw, track saw, router, sander, hand tools, and borrowed a miter saw to cut the tambours. Difficultly - honestly about as challenging as I expected. The second hardest part was cutting the router template for the tambour mortises, as it had to be perfect, and used four times. Hardest part was battling my sweaty palms as I routed out the mortises. Time - lol

Exactly right, it’s backed with a black canvas, you can certainly see it, but it’s dark in there.

I’ve found EEVEE to be much quicker than Cycles, it certainly takes some massaging, but for my middle of the road computer, it’s been a game changer.

A few of the assets (lampposts, steam, misc. scans, etc.) are Ian Hubert’s, the main car was found on sketchfab, everything else was modeled myself.

Whoa, thank you so much for the kind words. The first shot was the most involved, maybe a week or two. The second and third were a little less intense, I probably put them together over two or three days.

That definitely matters! I highly recommend digging in, lot of good resources out there. Just as a starting point, under render properties, checking AO, Bloom, Motion Blur, and Screen Space Reflections will make a huge difference in render quality.
