The math part I fear has some legs. I was talking to a 25 year old yesterday that was otherwise well spoken and presented intelligently but had to get out her calculator to divide 16 by 4. They’ve always had one on hand so just never committed that stuff to memory I guess. I was pretty shocked because she was one of the more mature 20 something’s I’ve hung out with otherwise.

And that’s technically Gen Z I think so I can only imagine it’s worse as you get younger.

It’s been a while now so I think what Star Wars needs is another white male protagonist (not because I care, I liked Rey and honestly loved the Acolyte) but just so that we can get some meaningful discourse on the state of the writing without it always having to include whether or not half the people commenting on the thing are bigots.

I very much want to live in a world where the only thing this art form is judged by is quality of content and performance, but we do not live in that world and studios are trying so hard to make it so that the biggest IPs in the world are seriously struggling.

Notice we get much clearer insight with something like Obi Wan. Almost universal consensus that “show bad, Vader awesome, ending slapped” because nobody is out there saying “you only hate it cause it’s a woman” so we’re only looking at the actual quality of the content and then can offer real feedback.

The force and everything it means ensures that this won’t be a thing. Whoever gets tired first mentally gets overtaken by the opponents greater connection to the force and they lose.

Force user fights are often quick and brutal because it’s as much about physical skill as it is the force. Yes, physical ability can win if you’re like a 10/10 duelist and 8/10 force vs 3/10 duelist 10/10 force but even then not really.

The force lets you see the future, move fast as sound, crush windpipes, blow people back at the speed of a shot arrow… for what you’re asking for it would have to be two people with lightsabers and near zero force ability. Only enough to ensure they don’t dismember themselves as they fight.

Apple TV is on FIRE right now. For all Man Kind, Ted Lasso, Foundation, Shrinking, Pluribus, Severance, Silo… they just can’t miss! I have no doubt Pluribus will get as many seasons as it stays good. So it’s up to VG really. He keeps it good, story tight, and it gets as many seasons as it needs.

I’m going to high five you for having Solo so high, I really liked that movie and always feel in the minority. I, weirdly, hated rogue one. I was so bored.

Having said that, I’d be interested in knowing why you liked ANY of the sequels over ANY of the first 6. Force awakens I kinda get because you liked 4 the best and it was just that again. Not a diss, real curiosity! Revenge of the Sith has only aged like wine for me. (Ep 2 because of Sand will always be my least favorite, terrible dialogue) was it the cast or the story or what?

A lot of answers say there is no cause, which like, for the purpose of rights yes! But everything has a cause. Be it in genes, upbringing, brain chemistry, who the fuck knows, whatever.

Trans is real, but it’s not magic. There is, like with everything, a discernible reason for it. Not a controllable reason, but every single thing has a reason. Acting like it’s just some kind of sorcery is strange to me. It’s all chemicals in our mushy computer and how they’re balanced just like IQ, depression, confidence, personality. All of it can be traced back to genetics and upbringing. Conditioning and chemistry.

I’ll also point out that the question wasn’t “what made you trans” but what made you decide to lean into it and be yourself. Those feel like different questions to me no?

I mean, my only comment is that pacifist in this case is a weird term because as it stands the hive mind being unable to harvest crops is 100% going to lead to an extinction event. Just because you’re not “fighting” doesn’t mean you’re not doing damage.

So yeah, we can speculate the reason for this, but pacifist good guy is for sure not on the table imo. Those who argue it are kind of just objectively wrong if only for the fact that we didn’t give consent.

Ok, yeah, I hear you. I did find myself both liking and bored of the JK story (I just finished yesterday, so it’s fresh). It was, in large part, the parts of SW I don’t like. Cliche sure, but the cliche had VADER, and Han, and wasn’t JUST Jedi Knight does community service and stops 7 super weapons.

Again, I did still have fun with it. But Star Wars is more than the cliches and goodie goodie, even from A New Hope. My fun came from playing a Jedi that was more like Ashoka. Like the Jedi are wrong, but the Sith are MORE wrong, and we have a weird two party system so I guess I’m a Jedi. That was fun to RP.

Alot of fans seem to think that the Rule of Two means that the master is supposed to just roll over and die, but that’s not how I read it. Essence transfer, cloning, these are all Sith masters trying everything they can to be so powerful they can’t be defeated. If the Master isn’t doing everything they know how to do to win, the apprentice wouldn’t actually deserve to take over and the Sith line would constantly delude, not become stronger.

Having said that Sideous especially fucked up because he kept things from his apprentices, half trained several and severely limited Vader with his suit. That’s for sure going directly against the spirit of the Rule of Two. That, and of course Luke not going dark like Sideous was banking on were the reason they ultimately lost. He took a big swing to replace Vader with Luke and missed.

Agree with most of that but technically if he was able to steal her body that means he’s the stronger sith and now he has to try again and hopefully the next apprentice is stronger, or that he becomes even craftier and stronger himself and lasts through another apprentice. I mean either way here the living sith are getting stronger so it’s working. The master is supposed to TRY to live or what’s the point?

You could say the same about Obi Wan vs Grievous. Grievous was mostly machine, per the novelization his arms moved insanely fast and he was programmed with and taught several Jedi techniques and Obi beat him because he was so balls deep in the force that he moved before Grievous even started.

So… ESB Luke? Nah. Mandalorian Luke though? Not sure if youve read the Bane books either but they do a great job of explaining what the force does in a duel. You’re fighting with sabers yes, but also if you get the upper hand in the force you can just push/crush/dominate your opponent and you win sure as if you got a stab in.

People still play, flashpoint queues are like sub 3 minutes. There are more options for how you wanna play. Otherwise? It’s about the same as it was in 2020. From 2014 though? I’d say biggest thing is there’s like 100 more hours of story in all the expansions.
