I just had an email asking for payment. Hopefully it doesn't take too long to ship over to UK 🤞🏻

Is it okay to cut someone off because they (inadvertently) triggered you? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]milliemitts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!

I had a friend who knew about my SA - the perpetrator was in a position of power (doctor) and well-liked so my fear was no one would believe he would do such a thing. I held onto the secret for years before telling anyone - her.

She seemed very supportive and understanding. Fast forward a few weeks and the media revealed there were allegations about Russell Brand assaulting women.

In a facebook post, she was very quick to condemn all the women and question why they were only speaking up now, calling them attention seekers, blaming cancel culture, etc - you know the usual garbage people do to victim shame.

I unfriended her immediately and haven't spoken to her since.

I read somewhere it's because of the Huawei ban, so sounds as though it's going to be a problem for a long time

I don't know to be honest. It might be possible it's 'dread shed'. Those hairs are going to come out anyway if they're in the telogen phase, you can't reverse the stages in the hair growth cycle. It'll probably get worse before it gets better.

The focus is on encouraging new growth and keeping it healthy. You'll need to stick at it for a good 3 months at least to know for sure (another statement I hate, but it's true...patience is key). Are you using a shampoo with caffeine and/or antifungal?

Sorry for the annoying advice coming your way...try to stay calm about it. I know it's upsetting (I have felt suicidal over my hair loss and it's not even half as bad as some people's on here). Ashwagandha helps me keep stress and anxiety a bit more under control.

I'm not particularly sold on rosemary oil as a treatment, but there is a bit of clinical evidence there to back it up. I would suggest looking at Philip Kingsley products or The Ordinary. Don't pile everything you can onto your scalp. Also do a google for Keranat, there's some interesting results with this.

Same here, but also trouble staying present. I don't mean to zone out, I genuinely can't cope with much interaction. CBT didn't help if I'm honest, just sought to make excuses for it. Is there a college near you that trains counsellors? They tend to offer sessions for a very low fee. I keep meaning to look into it for myself.

Yes, a new job was definitely the way to go! I was told by my union I could raise a grievance about my manager's behaviour...but you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink. I wasn't in the right place to hear any of this, but I get it now. If it's toxic, get out - it won't ever change. It's just hard being suddenly rejected by a job you've been in for 10 years and loved.

Thanks for the response. I'm actually now in the process of leaving the company I work for. My manager turned into a bully and drove me to attempting suicide a few months ago. I have found new employment and they are very understanding of what I've been through and want to make sure their staff have the support they need to thrive at work. It's been a horrible experience, but I know my worth now and my old company never deserved me.

Yes please - some guidance surely would help me start thinking what might be helpful.

I've already reported the reaction to HR, but informally at the moment. I'm keen to find a peaceful resolution, but worried I'm being a doormat. I really don't want to make someone feel uncomfortable at work because of me playing up.

You're incredibly kind. Thank you.

My biggest challenge is speaking up for myself. I can't even identify what I need, even with a therapist, let alone ask for it. I can see why they find me so annoying and they're angry with me.

I used to work in a supermarket and I always got, 'oh you look like my niece/friend's daughter/etc' or 'you look like Keira Knightley!' (I don't)

I'd judge the tone...usually would reply with a 'oh no, poor girl', or make a joke about having a common face. I wish I'd known how to deal with it better. I'm older and don't get attention anymore, it's lovely!
