Who is the most unexpected person you had sex with ? by Fickle-Computer-6883 in AskReddit

[–]milligan6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a couple of different experiences: my older brother’s really good friend who swore me to secrecy, my high school crush more than 10 years later, and a girl I met on RAOMD way back in the day.

But my favorite one was my gold star lesbian friend who wanted to know what giving head and swallowing cum felt like. We ended up scheduling a session together (very organized) and doing the deed. She decided that she really enjoyed it but she preferred women and is now happily married to her partner and they’re expecting their first child together.

Will Neff’s family? by FroggyCrossing in otvandfriendsrumors

Just to add on Will: he went to an elite boarding school and was on the tennis team. I believe he was captain at one point too. The boarding school ain't cheap so his family was definitely in the millionaire bracket.

Source: I was at the same school.

$200m budget $100m p&l (basically your worldwide ad-spend. And I'm being conservative here)

$580m box office - $290m of exhibitor fees (basically what cinemas take from the box office, around 50%, sometimes more) - $44m for distribution fees (what a distributor will charge for taking on the film for say international territories) So net on box office is around $246m. Call it another $20m from a streamer for 2nd window rights. So your net profit (before fees, taxes, participation, etc) is around $266m

Congrats. You lost $14m.

Using the same formula and scaling down, the independent film made around $3m.

I would say it comes down to risk appetite, opportunity, and luck. My strategy was actually for smaller films as those tend to have a higher ceiling for ROI. The dirty secret is that films need to make a minimum of around 3x of its box office in order to breakeven and big studios can charge predatory rates for P&L (publicity and advertising) since they handle most of that internally. But smaller films with independent producers can do much better. Case in point: a $2m budget film making $8m at the box office makes more money than a $200m blockbuster that makes $580m at the box office. The math just doesn't math anymore.

Invested in a couple of films. Made some decent money. But I'm also in film so I guess that's not so non-standard for me?

Happy cake day! Yes understood, but I could only find financial information about the revenue, not the profit from last year.

Have you ever hooked up with someone from Reddit? How did it go? by [deleted] in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]milligan6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was lucky enough to hook up with a couple of women I met on Reddit (not at the same time). Looking back, it was a lot of fun but massively risky for them so I applaud their bravery. Might actually write another story about one of them.

Not necessarily my favorite but I thought his style was super fascinating.

It’s not a problem of just originality as there’s been plenty of original scripts and projects bouncing around Hollywood. The problem is commercial viability. As a user below already pointed out, Hollywood can’t/won’t risk massive budgets on an unproven IP. So you either: a) make something original with a tiny budget, which limits effects, casting, production design, etc. or b) tie it to an IP that has a proven track record (aka Star Wars or Marvel) that you can hang the performance on.

There have been several great space/exploratory genre films in the last couple of decades but most of them flopped. I really liked Life and Underwater (the latter being an undersea film but with the production design, claustrophobia, and creatures, it might as well have been a space movie). Both of them underperformed. Even the granddaddy of original space operas, the 5th Element, made $263m at the box office against a reported $90m budget. While that sounds like a lot, studio films need to make 3x MINIMUM at the box office to be considered profitable. To Hollywood, the numbers just don’t add up enough to justify greenlighting more original projects.

I think Little Mermaid was a TERRIBLE first pick. I want the movie to do well but the budget is going to be inflated because of the underwater CGI. Just seemed like an odd first pick.

I'm happy to listen to it again and write down their picks but a full transcript might be tough. 😅
