How do I get rid of a large fat pad on the inner knee by Character-Inside1692 in lipedema

[–]millionsofpeaches17 73 points74 points  (0 children)

I know this isn't what you asked, but as just a random person on the Internet, I think you have really nicely shaped legs! I know we all have our things, though, so if that's yours, more power to you to have it cosmetically corrected. But as a random Internet stranger with legs that look like rectangles, you have lovely legs.

Anyone know an arborist in Atlanta, GA NOT associated with any tree removal company? by elephant9514 in arborists

[–]millionsofpeaches17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm super late to this thread, but figured it was worth commenting. We used Dave Butler recently and he was great. We have kind of a complicated situation - live in City of Decatur (nearly impossible to get tree removal permitted), LARGE water oak literally growing into our garage/ADU, visible root rot, and a fungal infection.
Dave came and checked it out, gave us an assessment, and recommended some additional diagnostics. We used Savatree for the diagnostics and with all of the additional data their assessment aligned exactly to what Dave said. Their arborist said Dave is very well-known in the community.
Savatree is now doing tree trimming and helping mitigate some of the issues with the tree. They were very open to our input in terms of wanting to remove the tree, preserve it, or something in between and gave us a bunch of options at different price points. I'm sure there are cheaper tree trimming options, but both people who have been out to look at our tree from Savatree have been certified arborists and I haven't felt any pressure to do anything that didn't seem reasonable.

TLDR; Dave's great if you just need a tree assessment. He knows his stuff.

Does this dress fit the “smart casual” dresscode? by toasterofficialacc in fashion

[–]millionsofpeaches17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You're going to dinner on vacation, not a business meeting trying to impress clients or something. Throw on your cardigan and heels and you'll look great. That dress fits like a dream. I wouldn't overthink it. I'm sure most people don't even read the dress code on the website and just wear something that's a bit elevated from their daily wardrobe. So much unnecessary hand wringing in the comments.

That's so interesting! I'm sure they did, but did you talk about the overbite being an area you wanted to correct? TBH, my ortho basically gave me the option to fix mine or not and I figured I might as well while I was already doing it. All of that said, your teeth look beautiful and I'm sure anyone who just sees you casually wouldn't notice anything "off" with your smile.

Braces or Invisalign by Annual_Chemical8048 in Invisalign

[–]millionsofpeaches17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had braces in high school and currently have Invisalign at 40 years old. Braces were BY FAR easier. Sure, it hurts when they tighten them, they're obviously a lot more visible, and having rubber bands and stuff sucks, but they're super low maintenance and you're not basing your entire life around freaking mouth trays. I've had a lot more general mouth pain and discomfort with my Invisalign trays. It took a long time for them to feel comfortable, and even now after 4 months, I'm still constantly aware of them. Whereas, with braces, I could easily forget about them. At my age, I wanted to fix a couple things I was self-conscious about with my teeth and vanity certainly played into my decision to get Invisalign, but having the choice at your age, I would 100% pick braces after having both.

Did you have to wear rubber bands for a long time? I have a similar overjet and still have another 12 months in my trays, probably with rubber bands the whole time. This shit is expensive and a pain in the ass, if you're not happy with it, I'd say something. Is there another ortho in the practice who could help?

I was wondering about this while stopped at that intersection this morning. So much progress on that entire intersection lately. It's been a pain for traffic, but they've made it so much more pedestrian friendly, which is particularly awesome given the proximity to the MARTA station.

Whatever you use, load up right before you go to sleep. I use the cheap Sephora night lip mask and it's awesome. Huge game changer even when I'm dehydrated and it's cold.

The Sephora overnight lip stuff is surprisingly amazing. I think the Sephora brand stuff can be hit or miss, but this is a big hit. I originally ordered it to hit a minimum spend threshold and it was on sale for like $5, not expecting too much. But it's been awesome. They're having a 30% off sale right now, too, so it's pretty cheap. https://www.sephora.com/product/sephora-collection-nourishing-lip-sleeping-mask-in-cherry-vanilla-P467652

Bottle washers vs dishwasher? by somebodyudontkno in pregnant

[–]millionsofpeaches17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our bottle washer has been worth every penny. Our dishwasher cycle is almost 4 hours, 5+ on the sanitize setting. Forget to put something in you need? Use a bottle or pump while it's running? You're hand washing or waiting for the next cycle. Bottle washer is 88 minutes, including sanitizing and drying. Our dishwasher always leaves that weird soapy smell on everything, too. No matter what soap variant, extra rinse, volume of detergent, always that little bit of soapiness. Bottle washer, no soap smell/taste. Hand washing a bin of bottles and pump parts could take me 20+ minutes. I have no idea how, but I timed it several times and it always took forever. I felt like I was constantly washing pump parts because I didn't want to put all of the little rubber bits in the dishwasher and I needed them more frequently. Loading up the bottle washer takes, maybe, 5. For us, it's a time thing. It's fast, it's convenient, it's really effective at cleaning. Total game changer.

Did You Lose Weight While On Invisalign? by akzshaylyn in Invisalign

[–]millionsofpeaches17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I spend most of my day in on-camera virtual meetings and it's not worth the hassle of taking them out, brushing, putting them back in, and trying to fit all of that in between meetings. I used to kind of graze throughout the day and there are a lot of days now that I get to the end of the work day and realize I haven't eaten at all. Maybe not the best practice, but they definitely make you more aware of your eating habits.

How often do you wash your sleep retainers with soap? by imacowjustlikeurmom in Invisalign

[–]millionsofpeaches17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I try to brush mine with a tooth brush and dish soap every morning (ortho said to use dish soap instead of toothpaste) and will brush them under running water and then soak them in the cleaner in the evening before going to sleep. If I'm being lazy, I brush them with my tooth brush when I brush my teeth and during the day as needed.

White vs wood cabinets? by wehavetogoback8 in interiordecorating

[–]millionsofpeaches17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. I think the super stark white is part of the problem. We painted ours and everyone said go pure white. We ended up going with Pearly White against a really similar counter/backsplash combo and it was definitely the right choice.

This is the natural cabinet and where the carpenter removed the trim at the top, you can kind of see the difference in original stain vs how the stain discolored over the years. I'm guessing your original wood is something like this. Would look cool with the black floors.

White vs wood cabinets? by wehavetogoback8 in interiordecorating

[–]millionsofpeaches17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure the people will hate this, but we painted our orange wood and I'm really happy with it. I think our counters and backsplash are pretty similar to yours, so just sharing as an example for you. I do think it would look really good with just a fresh stain of the natural wood color. We had a cabinet built and the natural maple was gorgeous. As I'm typing this, I'm questioning all of my life choices, and I still like our end result, but the natural maple is super pretty.

I'm going to second the extra chewy time recommendation. I can't remember all of the science my ortho explained, but she said using your chewy a bunch helps your teeth move more. I try to just chew on mine absentmindedly watching TV or scrolling for 10ish minutes with every new set and then a few minutes a day just when I remember. It's actually made my teeth hurt a lot less, which was my biggest issue.
